Melee combat getting you down?
I have seen a few posts about combat being weird and dying because you missed your attack. In less than 3 minutes, I will explain how aiming works and how you can hit exactly the zombie you want to hit in a group. Making sure you never take a bite again due to game design, and only get killed because you made a stupid decision.

Example of 70 kills no multi-hit in about 6 minutes right after spawning in westpoint, just a hammer and the construction worker profession.

P.S. If this video helped, leave a random comment to make sure this posts reaches as many people as possible.

A few suggestions I would have to improve melee combat would be to increase the visibility of the aim reticle a bit, as it can be easy to sometimes lose track of it in the middle of a fight. Another would be to limit exactly how far the cursor can move from you when a zombie is within a certain distance so the camera doesn't go zooming off while you're trying to kill something.

I can agree, maybe change the color but the precision is excellent, once you get used to it, you can wreck havoc. This allows me to take on many zombies. In this clip, i kill 70 zombies after just starting with a hammer in 6 minutes after explaining how to aim.

So does it increase your chance to get a critical headshot if the cursor is on a downed zombie's head, in your experience?

Yes. If you aim at their head, you will get a critical hit. Although, you also have to be close enough. So i literally get as close as I can before I do it. If you are standing at their feet and aim for the head. you will strike their knee. So stand on their shoulders and aim, you will get the critical you are looking for.

Actually no. Your position is more important than where the cursor is. You can have it nowhere near the downed zombie, but as long as you are in the proper position and facing the right direction you will get the critical on the head.

So to add what he said, this is correct. You just have to aim in the right direction. Have the circle on their head doesn't make it a critical hit, proximity and on their head will make it happen, if you are aiming in the right direction but far away, you can still get the critical hit but you may also miss it because you arn't over their head. It isn't necessary but it helps significantly.

No. You don't even have to have the circle on the zombies head. I'm at work at the moment, but I will make and a post a video of it myself and show you exactly what I mean when I get a few minutes of down time.

No, attacking a zombie's head while it's down is the only way to kill it. Attacking anywhere else just keeps it down.

While you can't kill them by stomping on their legs. If you stomp on their torso, you can kill them so no, you do not need to hit them in the head to kill them but you do need upper body at least. Hitting the head increases damage done. You can stomp on a head once and kill them first hit but you cannot when you stomp on their chest so aiming and how close you are to the head matters.

Here you go. I also made a point to show that your shoes play more of a role in stomp damage than where your cursor is. For the record, I'm not arguing that using the cursor couldn't help the newbies until they actually get the hang of it. I'm only arguing that cursor placement isn't actually all that important (other than making sure you're facing the right direction) once you do understand position and angles.

Hmm im maybe wrong but for certain weapon (like baseball bat) its best to aim at direction you want to swing, so you swing wide hit multiple zombies.

If you have multi-hit on, no matter the weapon. you will hit multiple targets if they are close together. Ive hit 3 zombies at the same time with a hammer. If you turn multi-hit off. No matter the weapon, you can only hit one at a time.

Wow, that's so wild. I was having an issue something like missing a lot yesterday and this really helps. For future reference to anyone who reads this: I don't like or want unsolicited advice.

Oh, and missing attacks won't be helped by those videos. The combat is weird and sometimes you can swing around or they'll be too close and you somehow miss anyways if your timing was off. Or even if you position right and time it right you might have rare times where you still miss anyways.

Glad this helped, once you understand how the targeting works. You can become a beast in combat.
