Where are the gas cans? + The Devs don't smoke.

I've not found a single one, not even at the gas station. Very frustrating that you can't use other containers to just give the car enough fuel to get there.

Also devs, be it gas or electric you can light a cigarette of a cooker :)

Every gas station I've looted has at least 10 full/empty gas cans. I honestly find what you're saying hard to believe, because that's where gas cans are most abundant in this game.
I imagine I've played hundreds of games since 2014, and I've never had your problem. Not saying it can't happen, but the game is coded the same for everyone

Well you don't know his exact situation. Perhaps he's playing with very rare loot settings or MP and they've all been looted already. Valid complaints in that case as any container would be able to hold the gas IRL. Perhaps not ideal for long term storage among other things, but they could do it.

I've played hundreds of games too. Check my hours. I've 100% looted gas stations before that have ZERO gas cans. Default apocalypse settings. It's rare, but it can happen.

To the OP, your best bet is to hit another gas station, or try looting a storage facility! Warehouses also have gas cans quite often.

You can carry gas in empty bottles. Those should be common enough.

You can carry gas in empty bottles. Those should be common enough.

But unless I'm mistaken you can't transfer from that empty bottle to a gas can or to a vehicle. The only point of putting in empty bottles that I'm aware of are for playing with fire.

I usually find gas cans in garages, sheds, backs of vehicles rarely, ciggies are normally in gas stations or in closests/ police station desks, other than that misc. Sometimes zombies too.

Since update, I've sort of had the same issue (settings extremely rare loot) but I managed to find gas cans in garages of houses mostly and ciggies I've mostly found in office buildings in the desks and at the bars, some hide on top of the counters so check the floor loot as well. (In my last play through I found 5 gas cans in all of muldraugh, not checking all the trunks of cars and the outer farming areas though.

thanks for the responces, playing vanilla. Maybe i've just been super unlucky then as poured all over the gas station and sourounding Zombies. Shall see iuf i can find some in garrages.

Matches/ lighters also seem strangly impossible to find.

kill lots of zombies. Vehicle glove boxes have a good spawnrate for matches and lighters too.

Same here. Played many different builds, and as of this one it is ultra rare. I found more in trunks of vehicles than the four gas stations I have been to, and even then that is only about eight for all of Muldraugh (including the Logging Warehouses).

the last 3-4 days i have watched at least 3 different letsplays on youtube with the actual build. And in all of them the player found gas cans on the first day. i remember they were found in a garage.

Go to your game options and turn "mechanics" up to rare. You'll find them. I was playing builder on standard settings (everything but food it turned to very rare) and I ran into the same problem. I ran to the storage shed, the gas station, and the warehouse and found 0 gas cans. So I decided to turn some things up to "rare" and had no issues finding them. It's up to you how tough you want things to be found. I find "rare" is enough to where you will find a desired item, but you still have to go and look for it. It makes it enough to where you still have to venture out, but you'll still find them somewhere.

My brother and I were playing, and we found 3 gas cans on our venture with mechanics set to rare, but we found 0 in the actual gas station. To give you an idea of what loot set to rare looks like.

I recently started in Rosewood instead of Maldraugh and every nearly every house has a garage or toolshed for it. Easy enough to find gas cans there. Though to the claim you can always find gas cans at mechanics and gas stations and in large numbers is false least in basic apoc settings.
