M1 MAC support?
Does it support M1 macs? Does it run well on it? (:

Well, yes. It actually does, but there's some trouble's with it. For example: interface just becomes extra small, and there no any options to expand it. Other example is the problem i still can't get on... after some restart's game stretches the screen out of frame of mac screen, but the cursor defines everything in the same way as before and you must blindfold search how to get out of it

Too bad, thought of buying it. Hope they'll make it silicon compatible soon!

It works perfectly on my M1 Max, to enlarge the UI just increase the font size from the game settings. Of course it's not Apple Silicon native unfortunately.

I had the same issue on M1 mac. Just switch to windowed mode instead of full screen

I also using m1 max, do you encounter performance issue? I feel very lag when playing single player mode, roughly 30-60 fps, but not smooth.

Yeah, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back as far as listing it as supported in the min. specs on the steam store.

In my original m1 mac mini, it had run fine but subsequent updates seems to have introduced that stutter + broke dpi awareness. You just can’t have that be the experience out of the box.

Not sure anyone has found a solution to that as yet. It acts like it’s taking a long time to read from disk despite it being a ssd.

As far as a native build is concerned, there’s still a few libraries that we’re dependant on before we can look onto it, then we’ll have to modify our own and see if the result works.

glad to hear that you are still working on that. I set everything about the graphic to low and get a smoother experience, then add some mods include the superb survivors (only manually generate survivors through the debug mode). The game is great and I had a lot of fun. I think the performance issue on M1 Max might be the game is not activating the GPU of M1 or using only one CPU core for everything ? because I noticed that during the whole time, the fan is not working even for one time. this means the CPU and GPU work load is really low.

Have you played the project zomboid on m1? Then does it work well?

Well, After nearly 300 hours play time and test on different hardwares, I have conclusions

1, on my 5950X+RTX3080 PC running on 2k display, graphics set to all highest, it runs perfect, only when the item quantities exceed 500 (with weight reduce mod of course) in the characters item slots (like bullets, cigarettes, cabbage seeds etc), the game will become lag. The fps is still around 60, but you can feel the game like a quick ppt, not smooth any more when you running, so put all the items into the bags will solve this. I guess it is the game's object-oriented architecture caused this.

2, on SteamDeck Steam OS, if you are a console lover, it runs perfect, use the deafult setting and you will get a really good experience. Same issue when you carry too many items.

3, on SteamDeck Steam OS desktop mode and using keyboard and mouse, it is not playable as WASD is not working while others keys works, not sure it is my problem or everyone have such issue.

4, on SteamDeck windows 10, use the deafult setting, 2k display, it's playable, if you set all the setting to low, then it is very smooth. If you use the SteamDeck screen, it is very smooth.

5, on my MacBook M1 Max (14' customized) , Well, why I make this last is because the performance on M1 MAX is worse than all the 4 ways above. I set all the graphic to low, it can reach 60 fps, but not stable, it will lag every 4-5 seconds to make it a very awful experience. But the game itself is a good game, I played it nearly 30 hours on my Macbook on travel and then shift to PC after I get back home then bought a SteamDeck. All for this game.

3: go into options - controller and uncheck the Steam virtual controller. PZ is generally one or the other right now, so can’t be both controller and kb/m.

5: Imo this is a more recent problem. I have an m1 mini from first launch that runs fine aside from occasional crashes (resizing window will do it). But on a new m1 14, it lags terribly — it acts like how the game performs on a very old 5400 rpm hdd. We have no idea why there is a difference, but it was why we had to explicitly state m1 is not supported in the game’s min specs. Subsequent rosetta updates also broke dpi awareness (why you probably have to play in borderless if scaling is on, which is the default for macs).

Aha, thanks.
