How to turn off zombie respawn either completely or just set it too really long time?
Like many others already mentioned, there is not much joy in clearing out areas if they'll just spawn right back, and this doesn't seem to be that type of game like Left4Dead or something where you just grab a weapon and start to maul down zombies and that's all there is to it.
But many people said they tried turning it off on their own server/in their own game but it didn't work they still happened to be back at the same spot.
Any suggestions? If someone could give me a link to a detailed description about the zombie settings that'd suffice too.

Are we talking single-player or multiplayer? Pretty sure there's a setting on respawn time before making the world

it's a sandbox setting, you just have to disable their respawn. When you start a new game, select "Custom sandbox", I don't know how it's written in english, then go to Zombie Settings (the last one).

Its multiplayer and I know about those settings, its just people said they turned the spawn down to 0 or up to 2000 hours and zombies still spawned back.
Unless you kill every zombie in the area, they will move from high to low concentration just like particles in a gas and give the illusion of respawn.

Under Advanced Zombie Option
If you want to turn respawn off > "Respawn Hours = 0 " & "Respawn Unseen hours " = 0
Or if you want zombie respawn in area you werent a long time ago , You can work with "Respawn Unseen hours "
To add a couple but not many or add many zombie to respawn work with " respawn multplier" All these 3 options you can find under " Advanced Zombie Option "

" redistribute hours " should be ZERO aswell if you dont want zombie go to empty places ! Work with these and respawn is no problem.

FYI, they do stay cleared out if you stay in the area and don't leave it for too long, not counting occasional migration from other areas because of noise, etc. Might not be what you want, but I like the balance between spontaneous generation right up in your business and getting more and more bored the longer the game runs.

Someone said it actually only works if you turn down population as well.

But so if it works then it should be possible to clear the whole map eventually. Like that's still huge amount of zombies is it is enough of a challenge, no need for them to respawn. I guess clearing out the whole map, finding every single zombie would take maybe months. It's possible you could never find the last 5-10 cause they are constantly moving and the map is big.

Directly from the game's code and the devs: There's zero need to touch "Respawn Unseen..." if you set "Respawn Hours" to 0. The higher-level "Respawn Hours" overrides 'Unseen' hours, and means and insures that once peak pop. is reached, no zeds will ever respawn. Period. Cheers.

There is a misconception that people have who don't want to believe how the game works. But even with no respawn zombies still move around and migrate, even between cells. So areas cleared out can still repopulate from wandering zombies. They don't just sit around and stare into the air.
That's the 'redistribute' setting which, if set to 0, will disable them from shifting their numbers around to spread the remaining population out across the cell. The other thing people don't realize is that Peak Population numbers exists *independent* of respawn. Even with respawn disabled, more zombies will be added into cells until the cells have spawned their peak population amount (minus those you've already killed). They're not 'respawns.' The system just hasn't finished spawning all its available zombies until peak population day.

subscribe to sandbox options and just change it to whatever you want.

I fixed this and figured I'd share. I'm hosting a dedicated server on my own PC so my friends and I can join at our leisure. If I shut down the server by hitting the 'X' in the cmd window, it will respawn zombies in areas we cleared the next time we log on. The solution is to use the 'quit' command in the cmd window and allow the server to go through it's save & shutdown process. I haven't had any issues with zombies respawning ever since.
I did a little research and found a solution:

1- Go to the directory Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\media\lua\shared\Sandbox

2- Open Apocalypse.lua with Notepad.

3- Find the line "PopulationMultiplier" and change the value from 1.0 to 0.0.

4- Check that the changes have been applied:
4.1- Run the game in Debug mode.
4.2- Press F11 and in the search engine on the right you have to search for "shared/Sandbox/Apocalypse.lua" to verify the changes.

Oh thank you very much, I haven't been playing PZ for a long time now and not really planning on playing it again in the near future, I just got bored I guess. Anyway I really appreciate though that you took your time to find solution for a random player, so thank you. I'm sure it will be useful information for me in the future in case I find some player or players again to play with.
