What is SNeaking?
The sneaking mechanic doesnt seem to work. Is it skill based? Zombies notice me at the same distance regardless of crouching or not, cover or not, etc.

its a mixture of skill, line of sight ie. are you in front of them in the open or behind something, their previous sight of you, time of day, and noise. plus the skill light footed which then makes you move faster and better while sneaking. both are needed to move around zombies to get that nice hit on the back and only gains xp when around a zombie that does not notice you

Pretty sure it depends on if you are near objects or not as well. You can see it in your character's animation when you are being sneakier. For example, when you press c near a wall your character crouches all the way down therefore being sneakier than when you press c out in the open where your character does like a half squat animation. Hope my explanation makes sense

crouching doesn't make a difference in spotting distance it just reduces the chance you get spoted when moving between walls and windows etc

You know, just because it's on YouTube doesn't mean it's true. He just repeats the information from the tutorial.

20+ posts and this video should shut up some people who believe the sneaking system and detection ranges of zombies on default is 100% perfect and bug free.. Because when B41 came out for SP it was fine but after MP it broke.

I made an inconspicous burglar, and zeds don't seem to have problem detecting me sneaking trough near-impenetrable fog I barely can see trough..

Fog doesn't affect zombie sight at the moment.

Almost like the info in the tutorial is correct.

it has hardly anything to do with vision, agility is mainly footstep sounds. If youre infront of a zombies 180 degree cone you're probably going to be seen. Although some of the skills like nimble help with movement speed while aiming down sights.

I learnt this pretty recently and just completely stopped going Burlgar because I thought having bonus sneak at the start of the game would be significant, it's not. You're better off with strength/fitness at the beginning and just learning how to actually be stealthy and move behind zombies/not infront of their vision.
