I haven't really learned much about the vehicle mechanics in this game, i have 90hrs and im building my first actual base instead of going from house to house and barricading windows, this is the first character that i've made that has lived longer than a month but i've noticed the van i use to haul wood, food and guns is getting less and less trunk space everytime i haul a very large load it started at 110 now its at 68? why is that? what can i replace on the car to fix that? only thing i could think is the suspension but that is fine the wheels are fine the van is in really good condition besides the hood being gone and the windshield also being gone (zombies on the road when im sending it down the high way from fort redstone back to riverside)

The trunk is damaged, need repair. Go to vehicle mechanic and click the trunk then click information.

Check the "Trunck" in the status window of your vehicule, the less durability it has, the less space you have for storage.
The only option for getting it back is to repair it.

What happens if your trunk gets damaged while full and driving? Does stuff just fall out or something?

Not sure but I hope that contents stay in there. IT is then a matter of when you go to add anything into the trunk that it checks the reamining volume and says no go.

I've been in and around real life car accidents and even with squishes most things stay in the vehicle... just unpleasantly rearranged.

thanks guys, trunk is all repaired, what is the fastest way to level mechanics? i read the beginner book then i uninstalled and reinstalled all the headlights and that got me two levels but it stops giving me xp after the first few times.

i think you only get XP once a day(?) for taking off/reinstalling an item on the same car. so find a parking lot or park some trash vehicles at your base and do each of them once a day

And looking for skill books, the XP bonus helps a lot.
