What is happiness?
I've been playing zomboid for some time now and I can't figure out how this moodle affects a character. It doesn't seem to be hindering me compared to pain/stress etc.

Does anybody know?

There isn't a 'Happiness' moodset, but there is the 'Unhappy' one; Feeling a little sad, Getting weepy, depressed, severely depressed.

It does indeed hinder you, however; It minorly to severely affects time taken to complete any and all actions, from switching weapons to packing something into your bag, to opening and eating a bag of chips. If it's an action that has a progress bar, it will take longer and longer the more unhappy your character is.

It slows everything down. A completely depressed character will take a notably longer time to dismantle a chair than a character suffering with no depression at all, for example.

And yeah no benefit for being happy. It's more or less "Not sad" being the best you can go, with the rest being degrees of sadness. I think the only moodlet you can get that comes close to being happy would be getting drunk.

Sorry I just assumed it was sort of like a happiness stat. So basically the unhappy moodlet affects actions that has a progress bar which is probably why I didn't notice the effects since I was mostly running around trying to figure out the quickest way to a gun and shoot as many zombies as possible.

I'll take this in to account when I do a survival base building game next time. Thanks for the answers.

Luckily even the harshest, most crippling depression can be cured by just reading two red books or like, smoking 12 cigarettes in a row, so it's generally easy to get out of the moodle if you get hit with it. Actually thinking about it there's more ways to lose unhappiness than gain it in this game really.

Cooked mushroom soup is actually a really effective depression cure too, for some reason. Muishrooms are disgusting :steammocking:
