Is there a way to make the UI icons and menus (not fonts) larger for a 4k screen?
Hi there. I'm on a 4k screen and many of the game's icons and menus are unbearably small on my display. I've set all the fonts to highest and even checked out the mod from the pinned sticky (which is discontinued btw), but the options only seem to affect the fonts, not the size of actual HUD icons or menu's clickable icons (such as those for the backpack in the inventory menu)

Is there really currently no way to make those bigger beside just forcing your screen to a smaller resolution like 1080p (which causes pretty severe aliasing for me)?

No. You'll have to wait until they get around to doing it.

Yep, I already have. Those settings only affects the appearance of text fonts, they don't influence things such as status icons (hunger, bleeding, etc) or the appearance of the menus interface (e.g. buttons for closing menus)

Lowering the resolution and turning off scaling should scale the whole game up, therefore it should scale the icons as well.

The lack of font/UI/Icon scaling after 10 years of development is appalling

Well I mean it really isn't a high priority. There is plenty of other work that needs to be done and is far more important to the game. I'm quite sure they will get to it, but I wouldn't expect it until we get a little closer to 1.0.

Yeah, I know, I referenced this in the OP. The aliasing's killing me at 1080p

I mean. I am a new player, I won't deny there are probably other things that can be improved. But this is literally the first game from the last like 5 years or so that had no UI scaling. UI scaling should be really easy to implement, right? Just scale the whole UI thing, doesn't matter if icons appear blurry or pixelated. And I mean this is the type of game where seeing icons is important. Why have they not implemented it - I have no idea.

I get it. I was disappointed when I figured that out too after switching to a 4k screen. The thing is though that 4k wasn't really a big thing when development of this game was started. 1080 was pretty much the standard, so it was designed around that. So I just play at 1080 for now. It still looks really good at 1080 on a 4k screen and all the little details are easy to see.

That said though, with it not being game breaking and several pretty important planned features to come, I understand why they likely won't fix it until we are closer to full release.

It's pretty rough on a 1440p screen too, and those are far more common these days than 4K. I'm more surprised that there hasn't at least been a mod that has tackled the very long running issue of UI Icons being obnoxiously small with resolutions higher than 1080p.

I actually came to appreciate my 4k screen more because the game doesn't scale ANYTHING, which means both UI AND how far around you can look. @At 4k and maximum zoom out I can see A LOT farther than when running the game at 1080p. Like twice farther.

Sure the game lags like hell when zoomed out that far, but given that it's pausible it's not too much trouble.
