Are propane torches rare now?
I used to be able to find tons of them before MP update but now I only found 2 after looting 3 warehouses lol. I never found any in hardware stores after the update. I don't have loot respawn on and I'm scared : (

You can refill any torch, so if you got one, you only need propane gas tanks, which you can find in every grill.

Just find a propane tank. Also, no the loot hasn't been touched, thats determined by your server settings.

I think loot is way more specific, like you can find loads of em in industrial buildings but the building has to have something with metalworking or something. ofcourse they do still spawn in garages and general warehouses but not as often as they used to. it's not as simple as just going for large buildings with wooden crates if you need tools (well it is but it's often very specific tools now)
I'm playing in single player (yes yes very sad I know) and I set the loot spawn to abundant so only finding 3 torches made me wonder if the loot tables in hardware stores were touched. Welp, now I'll go try to find a metal related store then. Thanks for the advice. It's probably gonna take a while cus I live in louisville.

Search Garages, All my propane torches I've found in domestic garages, i too feel like hardware stores are pretty meh, had a similar experience with Autoshops where i'll find more welding helmets on autoshop zombies than the autoshop itself; Same thing with Fireaxes, didnt find a single fireaxe in all of rosewood fire station, but find two in a hardware store.

General thing to take away is that loot is kinda unpredictable, you will usually find stuff where you least expect it and not where it would logically be found.

Some domestic garages have 'themed' loot, what i mean by this is that without fail if you go to certain houses they will ALWAYS have painting supplies, likewise there are some that will always have metalworking supplies; you generally want to go for the ones that have the metal shelves.

Cheers! I'll go search up every house now because I am running out of propane hahaha.

I second the house garages suggestion as that's where I've found all of mine. Especially if you're playing with abundant loot spawns as that's higher than mine and I find plenty of them. It's the propane tanks I tend to have an issue finding in loot spawn locations. Obviously finding them in the grills makes up for it but they seem to be exceedingly rare to find any other way.

I disagree, it makes way more sense than before now. Like the houses are still mostly random though more limited. But why even go to random houses if you're looking for something specific. Near my house in Louisville there are at least 2 metalworking buildings filled with nothing but metal sheets and propane torches.

It's more of a contingency thing in the event your shops dont have what you need; which happens more often than not. For example in my current playthrough I have found a single M16 in the entirety of the Louisville military checkpoint, the loot system is beholden to RNG and it will show with multiple playthroughs, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you dont, sometimes you find absolutely nothing. One thing is certain, house garages and tool sheds have phat loot.
Welp I searched up like 20 garages and found 1 lol. I guess i'll go to a metal shop then. Any idea where those are in Louisville?
