knowing the map goes a long way into surviving the initial days, knowing a place you can roughly guess what loot it has helps a ton and only IF the loot gives you what you need
Get what you can from the kitchen, get the curtains out of the living room, get the glass out of your groin with your bare hands, and bandage yourself.
Go to the house below and get what you can, and then make your way to the north house, you will lose all zombies while crossing the woods.
I even managed to survive one week with slow healer, and starting with the broken leg trait from more traits, although hunger got me when I was about to get healed and ready for looting more, but had bad luck getting a can opener and did not get no herbalist trait.
My last 2 runs lasted over a month (got cocky), and now I am in my third but without much time to play, at day 20 or so, living in north west point and with a good condition car in the garage (had to get gas from other cars, tires, and a working battery).
Try to hide in the other houses around. At some point they will lose you for ma short time.
Try not to make too much noises- they hear you pretty fast and get you. Moving is the first and main thin to stay alive.
When they are too much- walk with them. Try to hold the (near) distance. Walk circles with them, so they dont lose you too fast and you them out of your view. You have to know, where you can go and where they are.
With that I could survive over the time.
I'd leave the city as soon as possible unless you are experienced in high pop playthroughs.
Forget about hiding anywhere with the nasty cold, you just to move to low pop areas to cure it, or get ready to fight a lot, and is not a thing until you are out of the initial danger.
Oh wel,.. I left and was like a bliz right in the next house. Than in the next to get some air with the following zombies. But it worked so far. Ofc you get cold in the night, but better to get burned. lol
Try soon to leave the litle city on thief 'shoes'- tried not to make too much noises ofc. It helps a bit.
I tried to loot first times- but there was nothing really useful. So I let me burnt and start again.
Most of the time fire will not be a problem. If the exit path is blocked just pick the table up and then drop it, that solves it most of the time.
Also, there is a another farm besides the north farm, and a very accesible cabin at the south. For CDDA I always pick the lucky trait, it really makes a difference.
I also play with respawn off, and I am enjoying despite the incredibly high zombie count.
