Any way to cheat a character to a higher skill level?
Title. Playing with a friend that has died 3 times now in a month of in game time to my 0 deaths and he is getting a bit annoyed at having to start over.

Any way to just give him the same skill levels he had when he died?

You'll probably find it funner to edit the infection settings so that any wound isn't a % chance of death. For noobies having the infection not killing you is great while learning, as you still suffer having injuries

Infection is already off.

Friend is definitely still learning.
First death: poisoned mushroom
Second death: we got split up after a house alarm went off, everything was ok until suddenly "I need help!" then "I'm dead" a few seconds later (I assume dragged down)
Third death: he was playing fast and loose with carrying too much and got killed by a small group of like 4 zeds.

Probably better to teach him how to play and plan runs instead of just trying to cheat it.

Well yes, I am trying to help him learn. But he got annoyed at dying again and didn't want to start his character over.

He keeps asking to turn multihit weapons on and I really don't want to because that makes the game so much easier. So cheating a bit is the compromise I am hoping to hit.

Tell him to learn the game in single player first.

while learning the game is the best way to enjoy it, you could increase the xp multiplier so that you gain skills much faster so death doesnt mean as much, but that also takes away from the core game. But what is great about this game is you can play it however you want

You could add the cheat menu mod, allow your friend to add his skill points back and then just remove the mod.

You can tell your friend wasn't around for NES and Sega. Death is part of the game. Either live with it, get better over time and enjoy playing games with your friend or be a cry baby player no one will want to play with. Best advice I can give your friend. :spacepony:

There is a Mod, "Skill Recovery Journal", that may be helpful for you and your friend.

It lets you create a Journal that you can use to restore your skill levels from your dead character. It does require you to update the Journal after leveling a skill up. So you have to stay on top of it or risk not recording your skill levels.

I used this Mod a lot after moving to b41. I haven't used it for a while now and don't know if it works with MP.

I was using a ticklist mod that was not working, so if it has not been updated I bet it won't be. I will give it a try though.

Necroforge lets you do all kinds of cheaty things like leveling skills, spawning items, curing wounds (even zombie virus if you aren't already dead)
If you're playing single player and feel like you are going to ragequit, it will keep you sane.

You can even add it (it's a mod) to an existing save. So you don't need to have activated it at game creation and you can remove it again after you do your cheaty stuff so you are less tempted to rely on it later.

Yep. With the exception of a small percentage, gamers these days don't know what it means to start a whole game over because you ran out of lives.

I get why OP is asking this, as I am forced to play with a long time friend who likes to play games with me, but refuses to invest any time into a game unless I am there to play with him. Being in our 30s, that means our schedules probably align once a week. While it may not be the most optimal experience, cheats are a good middle ground if you just don't have the time to grind. It's a reason why pay-to-win options are so popular; People with less time still want to be at an up to date playing experience in their favorite games.

Is there any way to set infection chance of BITES to 99% instead of the 100% they are?
