Equipped items disappearing?

Initially I thought I'd just lost something, but now its happened again and I'm 90% sure its a bug, just wondering if anyone else has had it?

last attempt I had a flashlight (first one I've ever found) equipped as secondary. Came home from looting, slept, woke up and thought I'd check how much battery was left in it..... it was gone. Checked my inventory, rucksack and all containers in my base....assumed I must have accidentally moved it to a container I was looting the previous day and not noticed.

Fast forward to a few attempts later, using a crowbar as primary weapon, still has 60%+ condition left. Came home, ate and watched TV, went outside again and realised my hands were empty; opened inventory to re-equip crowbar and its gone. Once again, I checked all containers, my only rucksack etc. but it appears it simply despawned into oblivion :/

Anyone else had this happen or am I just nuts?

Wait, there are flashlights even in the game? Haven't seen one yet. You'd figure they'd be pretty common.

It has just happened to me. Like you, I thought i misplaced it but nope,it has vanished,i went ro attack a zombie,only to find out i was empty handed.
I have many mods so who knows who is the culprit.

from what i've read paw low loot, brita and a night vision goggle mod have been said to be likely culprits. i fixed my single player save by removing paw low

edit: i really should read posts. my issue was dropping things on the floor disappearing so perhaps not the same issue

I don't think this is the problem, but there's a high chance to lose a secondary item when vaulting over a tall fence or when tripping and falling.

Actually I was having the issue of things not being transferred as well as things randomly disappearing from my bags/main inventory, nothing literally out of my hands though. Removing Paw Low Loot fixed it though.

Ahh that's interesting, didn't know that. I dont have any mods at all and haven't even touched the game settings ( just playing on default apocalypse mode) So maybe that was the cause the first time round... pretty sure it couldnt of been with my crowbar though.... Either way thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye out.

Just going to reanimate this post in case anyone else is having the same problem - it was exactly this for me - i vaulted a high fence on my way back to the fire station - then only noticed a while later that my flashlight was missing - i thought i had somehow accidentally disassembled it or left it somewhere somehow - but then on my way back to the police station i vaulted another high fence and didn't notice till i was fighting a zombie that my torch was now missing

it makes perfect sense since i knew you drop secondary equipped bags when vaulting high fences (and while i sometimes forget, my sudden carry weight change always alerted me in case i hadn't seen it drop) - but i only just started using torches and flashlights, and i didn't register that it's of course the same mechanic

anyway - just thought would highlight it for anyone else who has encountered the same problem - is not mods or anything like that - just a normal mechanic that newbs like me may not have registered was the same no matter if it's a bag or a flashlight :-)

maybe the OP might want to mark this one as solved by the above quoted post?

This may be slightly different, but the other night when I was playing I kept noticing my rucksack kept un-equipping itself, with no certain reason. Was bugging the hell outta me.

the one on your back? that is weird - well hopefully someone can shed some light on that one for you

Yeah, though it wasn’t missing or anything. It was in my inventory every time it happened, just seemed to keep wanting to un-equip itself from my back.

feels like something was trying to equip itself on your back instead of the backpack - weird - you using any mods?

No mods. I thought maybe my primary weapon was also attached to my back, but no, just my belt.

hmm that it weird - also you can have weapons and backpacks on your back at the same time anyway - can't have satchels and backpacks without mods though

you may want to raise a new thread with a title something like Backpack Keeps Unequipping and see if anyone can help

if you do exercises it will automatically unequip your back pack and weapons and place them in your main inventory. make sure you re-equip before you head out after performing any exercises
