Project Zomboid

Has anyone found the creepy abandoned neighborhood?
There is an an area to the left of Riverside that kinda looks like Skid Row. Abandoned buildings, lots of For Sale signs, graffiti etc. Except for one really normal house. Couldn't get inside because the character was super hungry and I needed to address some negative stats before fighting but it was super random. Anyone know anything about it?

It is shanty town.
If i recall well there is one normal house a lot of abandoned ones, and an abandoned building that looks like a Fire department. Also there is an abandoned bar and gas station.

The normal house i am guessing is the town overseer's. Also has a garage or tool shed with decent stuff.

And there is the construction part too. If you go further south, you can also find a supermarket under construction.

Yeah I passed through there. Didn't find anything useful, but I didn't spend much time either. Was interesting for sure, different to the rest of the map.

Yeah, that little abandoned town. I've been to it once but it was foggy, didn't find much in the houses. The factory is interesting, depending on your enthusiasm.

The only thing I've heard of note about that place is there's one of those traditional cast iron ranges you can find and acquire there with relative ease, although I'm not sure what makes that so notable. I guess maybe it runs on wood instead of electricity or something.

Question for more knowledgeable players than me; was the horse riding stadium looking place always there, or is it new with 41.60? Near the Country Club?

In my last playthrough quite some time ago now I based in the neighbourhood community near the Country Club because of all the fences making it quite safe, and I explored the surrounding area but I swear that stadium wasn't there before lol. Am I going mad?

The cast iron oven, or antique stove is actually quite good. Riverside and that part of the map really did not have any option to aquire it from anywhere nearby. The shanty town has 2 or 3 of it. (Also most buildings have built in hearth-s.)
If you start on settings where there is no power anymore, it is a must aquire as soon as possible, since campfires can be a bit troublesome if not outright deadly. (Accidental fire spread since if you do not find bags and trowel, you cannot make a no spread perimeter)

Regarding the horse riding range no clue. However i noticed that WP got a new little train car restaurant(?) as well east of town. I am guessing there are a number of new additions. It makes me feel like want to restart my 1pfy challenge:)

Calm down, Satan.

Thank you for the info as well :greenrollball: probably a stupid question considering the whole chimney and such but is it possible to take a hearth with you? Like crowbar the little bastard right out of the house and just put it in your car? lol

I like having a hearth. Can you build them? Or are you kinda forced to base in a building with a hearth if you want one?

Well i restarted:) (Placed my old save safely elsewhere, if i feel like continueing.)

Currently going back to my roots ->burger flipper:P

Also sadly no you cannot remove a hearth. I have tried it before, but did not work.
That is why you need the antique oven. You can take it with you anywhere. Also the heating range of it is like 8 cells or so.
(I wish there were houses where the hearth is on the second floor.P)

Well it was worth a shot lol. Burger Flippers probably spend most of the time wishing for a zombie apocalypse anyway, right? Take Louisville by storm :stronk:

Definitely going to prioritise a trip to that creepy ghost town to grab a range or two then, for heating. Seems like a smart thing to do before Winter rolls in.

Depends where you spawned. Riverside in the past needed a long long trip to get one, now you do not need to travel that much. For all the other places it is not that hard to get one.

Muldraugh antique ovens:

It's abandoned and there are typically no or very few zombies around. Good place to sit inside for the helicopter event if you're around there.
