MP is too laggy

I am playing with my friend. I am the host and we both have good internet. Server ram is 10gb and no mods are enabled. Is it because multiplayer is in too early version or is it because of our mistake?

Not sure, I'm running a server atm with me and 2 friends on 4GB, everyone has 11-20ms ping, but we all live in the same city so maybe that makes a difference.

Hey are you hosting the game through a dedicated server or through the Host function ingame?

Could you also describe the lag a bit more?

The only weird problems im having are when my Friend is visually stuck doing squat animations when when he is no longer exercising. Like he says he is sitting and reading. But what i see is his character squatting while holding a book. Using Host Function on Steam.

I am hosting through Host function in the game. My buddy keeps teleporting and zombies are lagging sometimes when we both attack same zombie. Zombie thing is ok but seeing teleporting friend is not cool. For example sometimes when I enter the room first, my buddy exits the room after me but the thing is I've never seen him entering the room. Also sometimes when we run I see him doing quick teleport dashes, same goes for me too on his screen. Could dedicated server fix these problems? I don't know how to start dedicated server though.

How far are you from your friend? Regardless of how good your internet is, if you are in Europe and they are in Asia, it's gonna be hella laggy. He is connecting to YOU, not to his internet.

Also, is your PC beyond the minimum specs by a LARGE margin? It needs to basically be able to run Zomboid 2 times over at the same time.

My pc can handle multiple zomboids and we are living in the same city. I don't think theese are the problem but thanks for answering.

yes it is too early to play mods, in some way they do work but you will not be able to use weapons at all you'll do the shove animation and stomp on zombies. no matter what combos of mods i put in still will do it. I would wait a while before modding the new build 41, but it doesn't stop you from switching to singleplayer to play mods on your own and back to muilteplayer as vanilla gameplay with friends. Even my friends would love to play modded but we wait till we could play modded. Just have fun with the base game till you can play modded with friends.

We don't use any mods. We just want to be happily synced in modless run.

Then I have no idea. Was playing it with my friend today, and his laptop can barely run it as standard, and we had next to no lag. I was hosting ofc.

try hosting with 2GB Ram, see what happens. Longshot but test it.

Help, I launched a server from my pc, and we played with my friend at least 40 min, and game got me a notification in the right under 📐 error 1, I launched again and got error 2, I fixed something and now I am getting error 1

Having same problems as OP. And also sometimes I'll go invisible to my friend but he can still see me open doors and other interactive things. He does have like 100-200 ping and high spikes sometimes so idk if it's that. The squat thing happens too.
