If you press M, you can see the entire map based on the zones you have already explored or you can just look in the right corner of your screen. But if you press the X next to it, to close that window, there must be a key to reopen it.
I believe when you press M to open the normal map there's an option there to bring back the minimap? Can't remember exactly. Not sure there's a hotkey for it.
Also: if you have towns added by mods, the minimap is pretty much useless for those areas because they don't show up. Might as well use Eris minimap for those.
Curious as to how it works in regards to mapping out the world and removing fog of war, I'm guessing it slowly gets drawn up as you visit areas on the map, but what about the building colours? Saw an image of this new map (I think) that had buildings in different colours, do the buildings automatically get coloured in or do they have to be coloured manually? Also, if the map is automatically filled in for you in regards to buildings, are the buildings automatically coloured appropriately for their type, or does it wait until you've discovered / explored it?
Also, if your character dies, is the map reset to a default, unfilled state on a fresh character? In multiplayer, respawning and losing all of your markers and map progression would be quite a blow, it makes sense in relation to the hardcore roguelite style the game is in, but it'd still be quite harsh I think for progression games in MP. Is there an option to remember map progress between deaths, and if not, could there be?
If physical maps still exist to pick up off your corpse then that's less of an issue though I suppose!
Finally, is there a Louisville physical map item now? I really enjoyed picking through the towns and steadily marking off the buildings on the map as I went, would not like to lose this mechanic in lieu of a virtual map, especially if you lost the markings on death.
Thanks in advance anyone who answers me, cheers!
The buildings are already coloured, which makes sense, anyone could tell the difference between a police station and a trailer house.
Yes, you can write on them just like a real map. Yes, you need a pen.
When you read physical maps, you'll automatically learn the entire town on your virtual map. So say, I spawned in muldraught and I just read a rosewood map, the entire rosewood town will be known to me
No idea about the death thingy, haven't tested it.
It's no problem just using physical maps to keep a running tally on what places have been looted or not though really, I'm not too bothered about having the FOW reset to default or not.
Actually, that might be a little awkward, I wonder if there's a way to turn that off? I know it sounds like a minor thing, but if someone wanted to map out the memory map on their own terms, but still use a physical map to make markers or notes or whatever, then they wouldn't be able to, right? Since it'd automatically fill in their world map for them? Is there a way to disable the automatic map filling in when viewing physical maps?
Thanks for the response, by the way!
As far as I know, you can't really do any changes to the memory map, you can only turn it off.
