Gun Spawns
Love the game - I'm a noobie and I'm terrible at it! I noticed that the game takes place in Kentucky. Considering that it's KENTUCKY we're talking about here, why aren't there more guns in civilian loot tables? Or am I just bad/overthinking it?

surprisingly there are quite a few zeds that drop handguns so your faith in the american people isnt totally shattered. you'll have better luck finding a gun on a zombie then in a house. even the odd glove box of a vehicle might have a gun

Really? Damn. Most of the time it's just what they're wearing! When I'm lucky enough to find a zombie with something stuck in them, it's usually just a fork or a butter knife. Oh how I long for a screwdriver.

You can crank up the gun and ammo spawns in the custom sandbox settings, I've found a few rifles in garages and pistols sometimes in car gloveboxes. Recommend Brita's Weapons and Armor mods if you're trying to go for a gun-heavy build or playthrough.

Edit to say: Boost your Survivor House frequency up a notch as well, if you want to find lots of guns in houses.

I'm not interested in doing sandbox atm, more the apocaypse setting. I found that mod that gives you items based on your occupation neat - I just started a playthrough with it, spawned with a mossberg which I can use a melee weapon in the meantime since I don't want to make noise, AND I just so happened to spawn by a police cruiser, with police zombies that dropped two m9s and a nightstick! The hardest part for me so far is just getting a decent weapon so that I can actually quickly fight stragglers off, or clear out small groups so I can move to a new area.

Yea guns will do that.

Naturally.

For the rest of you who want that authentic 1990's Kentucky feeling then use sandbox mode and set the guns/ammo setting to high if not max. And remember! Guns may seem like a good idea, but nothing rings the zombie dinnerbell like a shotgun, cept maybe a helicopter.

That's a good idea learning the game on Apocalypse mode. By the time you get around to making sandbox games you'll be a master

The longer you stay alive the higher the probability that zombies will spawn with quality items stuck in them.

I can highly recommend that you get Brita's weapon pack, that mod adds over 200 different guns and tons of attachments, extended magazines and lot's of different ammunition calibers. Also Fort Redstone custom map is great to loot tons of guns, as it's a military base.

The vanilla gun experience is not so good, sadly.

It's because you aren't being dropped into a world where everyone has instantly become a zombie and left everything around them intact. What's the first thing that happens when some kind of apocalyptic even occurs? Everyone panics, looting starts, and people start grabbing weapons to defend themselves, protect their property... or attack others. So most of the weapons have already been taken.

you can find pistol everywhere

you even find shotgun on corpses(the ones who killed themselves with bleach)

but if you are looking for rifles and scopes you gotta visit gun store or police station
Archdemon Nov 30, 2021 @ 9:43am
