Sinks not working
Im having a weird issue and I saw someone else with it too, I just want to check to see if Im doing anything wrong. The power and water is still on in my game, but after I right click on a sink to use it, I cant do it again. I cant fill pots/pans or waterbottles. I cant wash or clean. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?

Firstly, you positive the water hasn't shut off? If none are working, that seems to indicate it has ♥♥♥♥ off.

Secondly, if the water is indeed on, have you moved the sinks at all?

how can you be sure that water is still on if you can't use it? You know that power and water get shut off separately and randomly right? Meaning sometimes you lose water before power, or vice-versa. Sinks only hold a small amount of water in the pipes after water goes out, so when the water goes out you will still be able to use the sink a little bit. If you go to a new house that you haven't looted before and try to use the sink and it still works, but your sink doesn't work, then it means the water is shut off.

Trough the game, "easy way to do things" start going down. General water supply gets cut off, and Electricity will at some point, be turned off as well, meaning you need to start cooking food either in a grill with firewood or get a generator and stock gas for it to run electricity.

If you're playing apocalypse mode, Water usually gets turned off first, for me last play trough, it was on day 4. Im glad I managed to stock up with soda bottles worth of soda to drink until I got pots full of rain water to boil and drink. Now I have about thirty liters of water stocked up and wont run short of things to drink at least for fifty days until I can figure out the water catching system.

Electricity is another matter. Once it turns off, you wont get it back until you find a generator, and have at least lvl 3 electricity skill and read the generator book, OR if you're electrician. That means your fresh food is going to rot away before you can get electricity back running.

I know the water is still on because I can go to another sink in the same building and use it once just fine. I can go to another building and it works too.

re-read what I said. Just because you can use another sink, does not mean the water is still on. In fact, what you're describing means the water is shut off.

it is not an error. It is empty, and water supply is now gone.
sinks toilets bathtubs, hold a finite amount of water even if the supply has gone off.
Thats why you can still find water on bathrooms and kitchen that havent been raided yet.
Start filling bottles on every new house that you raid before disasembling bathrooms and kitchens and get yourself a water dispenser from an office. with carpentry skill, dont know how much, you will be able to build rain collectors. you can boil that water and refill the dispensers.
wash clothing and yourself on the rain. Use tainted water for farming.

carpentry 4 is the small collector (I believe 200 units of water) and carpentry 7 is the large collector (400 units).
If you put the collector on the floor above the sink within 1 tile distance of the sink on the floor below, you can plumb it with a pipe wrench. Then you don't have to boil water anymore; the game automatically 'cleans' the water if it goes through a plumbed sink.

When the water goes off, every sink/toilet/tub has a set amount of water that can still be collected. What you are describing fits this scenario. You're using up the water that was left in the sinks, that's why it works and then it doesn't.

To test, go to a sink and see what it says in the water source info screen. If it says "unlimited" then yes, the water is still in. But if it says some number, like xx/xx, then it's off and the water in there is what remained after the water was shut off.

Every sink etc has like 20 water points once the water is shut off. In the begging i used to be so confused but i learned how to tell for sure.

If you cant right click and see drink - Unlimited water than its indeed shutoff.

Once water is cut out when you choose drink or refill it will say like 11-20 water left compared to (Unlimited)

Once its shut off you can right click it and its not possible to see any options. go to other sink and yes there will be like 20 or limited water left. but once you use the lil amount then its done fore like first etc.

This. just for the sake of absolute clarity, Every object capable of holding water has an internal reservoir; Sinks hold 20, toilets 25, bathtubs 100, etc, etc.

When the water is still ON, This revservoir perpetually refills, you can't empty it- As Einar describes, it is marked as 'Unlimited'.

However, when the water shuts off, That internal reservoir is all you get. You can go sink to sink, toilet to toilet siphoning water out of their individual reservoirs; But it will no longer fill up since the water has shut off.

Hi have the same problem. I just started a new game, went to the sink, filled a cooking pot with water and after that I get no more sink options on that sink. It's been 2h in game so water should be on I guess

on default settings power and water can shut down the moment you enter the world.
you only can get the left-over water in the pipes.

so i have set up a truck with all i need in it bed, fridge, stove, sink, all the fun stuff and my sink has been working for weeks of in game time with the outside water shut off, I.E houses have no water, without any issue but now its not letting me use the water and after removing the sink and installing it again i am getting nothing, it wont even let me reconnect the piping, so i don't know if this is related but thought i would post anyway.

Issues with mods is not vanilla game's fault. RV interior's sinks are plumbed to an infinite rain barrel, so it probably failed to detect the barrel because you removed the sink.

The easiest way to check if the water is turned off is to go to a sink/toilet/bath and check the "Drink" options tool-tip. On it if the water amount is, for instance 20/20 instead of showing "unlimited" than the water has gone.

Even when the water is off you can still use the water left in that container, however once used up you will no longer get those options to pop up, which is what I presume is happening.
