Is there a better way to boil large quantities of water?
Like, I go through so much of it, but the best way seems to be to boil it in large cooking pots that barely hold any water.. Is there really no way to boil barrel-fuls or anything larger than the cooking pot that you can boil tainted water in?

It's not boiling it, but the obvious solution to get clean water is just to plumb it. There isn't any other way to boil large quantities of water besides in the largest pot.

You can boil several pots at once as well

maybe raincatchers carry more, i've yet to build one though

As far as I know, cooking pots are the biggest recipients that aren't a prop. I'm not sure you could conveniently move a rain collector barrel above a campfire :steammocking:

To have several cooking pots and to put them all at once to boil seems the best we can do for now.

The fastest way to get water is to pick up one of the water dispensers (from offices and such) and haul it to your base (or in a car seat for convenience) for an easy +250 water (it stores it too, and is refillable!).

Otherwise, you're stuck using multiple saucepan/cooking pots at a time to boil it (it's not that bad when you boil them in batches, then drop them outside on the ground to auto-refill when it rains).

You can set up rain barrel above your sink and plumb it with a pipe. Water magically becomes safe to drink.

Wasn't it got patched a bit ago to "fix" that feature of plumbing? I remember people reporting plumbing no longer giving clean water, so I assumed its no longer the case.

It got fixed back, as it was a super popular feature, and there's no real end-game when it comes to plumbing atm. I assume future updates will expand on water filtration and take it back out, however...

This. I'm pretty sure they said that once they have something along the lines of a filtration system, then they will put in a fix to it.

They do. A basic rain collector can hold 160 units of water

But if you go to the Louisville Checkpoint Refugee Camp and empty the Metal Barrels they can hold 800 units of water

I hope if and when they do change water filtration it's something we can do repeatedly without having to raid like 30 warehouses just so we can clean a single pot of water.

how do you empty one of the metal barrels? i see them around but havent figured out how to use them. also, are you able to put it outside and have it fill with water like other containers do?

Only some Metal Barrels can be used as a rain collector. Why I brought up the Refugee Camp is you can find 6 of these special Barrels. Barrels with closed tops cannot be used but the ones with no top can be.

The ones in the Camp are filled with logs when you find them. Right click on them and select Metal Barrel. You will then get the option to empty. Once emptied of Logs it will start collecting rainwater

Latest patch, plumbing is still fine. I have two barrels on the roof of Cortman medical, one for cooking and one for washing.
