Generator/Generators. ?????
Is it possible to get generators to work in a chain so if i go on a long trip it wond run out of fuel. As i understand it, now, if i start 2 or more together they will all use the full amount of fuel side by side and not split it up betwene them. This means i will have to get home before the fuel run out or make sure not having anything in the fridge. If i can build bomb timer or movement sensors cudn i build a device that can turn on generator number 2 when generator 1 is at 10 procent fuel left or a timer turning it on after a set amount of hours/days/weeks.

How long are you going to be away from your base that you need 2 generators worth of fuel to run. They usually take a long time to run out unless you have your fuel consumption set to like 10.

My fuel consumption is as the game set it and i wudn know how long i cud be gone im in West Point going to Rosewood or louisville and on my trips i always get my loot goblin illness in the way so i have to stop all the time to se what is in that/this and the other warehouse fuelstation and every where els my goblin think look lootable so to be sure all the old loot in the fridge still work when i get home i might need 4 to 11 generators in line lol.

The generator consumption and chunk it's in will basically pause once you get far enough away...and chaining 2 or more together won't increase the run time...fyi you really only need 2 (one for gas station and one for your base) you can also set how fast they burn fuel in your sandbox settings.

haha loot goblin, nice!

Then so be it. You're not going to get everything in one run anyway. You still have a weight limit on the items you can carry in a vehicle, therefore you'd have to go back to your home base rather quickly (which means your fuel will have barely been used in the generator).

If it is like you say, it will pause and not use fuel when i get far enough away, that is fine but ill go test that in a new started game. when i say chain im thinking, when 1 is almost dry it will promt number 2 to start then it wud normaly mean twice the run time, so they dont run at the same time. I dont like to change things in sandbox settings i play the game the devs make i dont use mod's either (have used Crafthelper when i started playing, was a good help)

Being a loot goblin i know this i also know a step van have space for 160 in the back and 20 in the passenger seat and that i can tow a step van with a step van so 360 lol.

Yeah that sounds like a good plan. I've been using the trailers, but they are horrible on grass and a weak car is hard to get them moving. Step van is the way to go

I'm wondering too...

I built a base in the woods. It's got 23 lights, 2 popsicle freezers, 2 refrigerators, a washing machine, a dryer, and a stove... the last 3 of which are off most of the time.

It takes 5 or 6 in-game days to run out of gas in the one generator.

What are you running that makes it go faster than that?

Or....

How fast are your days? We've got ours set to 1 in-game day = 4 RL hours. That way I can log in once an RL day to switch generators, fill the old one with gas and fix it, then log off.... Assuming I don't have time to actually play that day.

My days is 1 hour since i dont change any of the settings i think that is how it is from the devs build. I know i can sandbox it so the cars and generators dont use fuel and days last forever fridges hold food good for months and all that but that isnt the game i bought as the devs made it im playing it like that first when that get old i might change it up.
Im not yet playing multiplayer

I havent actually ever run out im just asking if it is possible to chain them so they can work for longere if i go to, lets say, rosewood (Im in West Point) and make a base and investigate the area maybe im going on a trip for a month (in game time) i want to be sure the things at home still work.

If i go to rosewood im going to visit the prison and the military base and so on and on and on i might stop over in towns on the way there and back to set up small base houses so i have hideouts everywhere

Tested it and if i go to Louisville from West Point i think that should be far enough away
But it still use the fuel, i left with 100% Fuel. 100% Fixed(Just cudn remember the right word,
Mind.Blank.lol.) Drowe straight out of town to louisville spend some time there and when i returned home the generator said 46% Fuel 78% Fixed so it dosnt go on pause when i go to louisville maybe ill test a trip to rosewood next that is far far far away lol.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yeah that is false. Regardless of how far away you get, generators will continue run. Also no, you can't do what you are asking. Any generator that is running will just continue to run while you are gone. I do think that, depending on how much stuff you have running on it, you should be able to get at least a couple of days out of your gens though.

Death is right, they just keep running...apologies for the misinformation.
