How to knock on doors?

I saw you could do that but I cant figure out the button to do so.

if you try to open a locked door, it will automaticly force the door to open but just seems like you knocking on the door. You can't do it on a unlocked door this way but you can still hit the door with a weapon (try to use a weapon with low damage) which looks like you are knocking on the door.

Or you can just try out mods.

i am knocking alway with equiped weapon leftclick, because

if you hit the space bar in front of the door you can "push" the door and that how I "knock" on doors

Actually you can knock knock knocking only on Heaven's doors

You can use the Q button I believe (I rebound it, and cant remember what the default was) to yell, while crouching, and your guy will whisper. This should alert any zombies on the other side.
