Project Zomboid

Louisville
So it's not infected for a week or so after game start? What happens if I get in a car and rush there? Will I find people and the military?

There are zombies, lot's of them at the start. Not sure if the devs plan to change that but there are no normal people or anything.

The game is not that sophisticated. The game lore may be that Louisville was quarantined to limit the spread of the infection but in reality Louisville starts like any other area of the map. The virus has spread and everyone is dead.

If you use a mod that allows you to start in Louisville it starts off just like any other location.
When NPCs come out Louisville will probably be defended for the first few days by an impenetrable wall of soldiers with M16s. Eventually there is an event where the wall goes down due to zombies clumping against it, trying to reach the sound of gunfire (military killing civilian refugees). Hopefully someday it will be possible for a very sneaky player to observe a massive horde form and break through the camp instead of just hearing about it on the radio/TV

You simply wont be able to rush it because the bridge near the Westpoint is blocked by car jam, you wont be able to unblock it in time and probably wont be able to reach it on foot.

But yeah, it is infested from the start.

That would be epic. I truly wish the game NPCs would allow for that kind of passive activity in map areas but I suspect it would be quite a while before we see something that advanced.

You can use the railroad bridge instead of the main bridge.

They may have it so that you can change the outcome of the news by going there in time after challenge such as grabbing additional ammo and handling the zombies with the npcs yourself before the specific time of the news broadcast that talks of the breach. There then may be infected reports at the docks instead. Or some alternative story line.

In LV base itself you can see in the quarantined houses that have had their stuff removed and out put outside that a zombie in one house was tied to a medical table. So there will probably just be a few npc you can go and keep alive.

They make you get a job to work a hot dog stand in the park for a week.
