every limb sounds like exercise fatigue

Why are they exhausted? Are you carrying too much and continue to carry too much? In single-player sleeping and resting can speed the time up, but in multiplayer you have to wait manually. Give me more information if possible.

In this case, regardless of the reason...

Find a bottle of wine, a couple beers, or a bottle of bourbon.

Drink 2 beers, half a bottle of wine, or 1/4 of the bourbon. In just a little bit, you'll be ridiculously tired, or the pain will have dropped enough. Either way, you'll then be able to sleep.

As a side note... Ridiculously tired is the way to go. You can sleep through anything that way.

Further... if exercising... your best bet, imho, is to do your exercise routine, 3 or 4 hours before bed. That way you can sleep. During the next afternoon, you'll be in a lot of pain. After a couple weeks of this, you'll no longer be in that bad shape. After a month, you'll barely notice any exercise pain.

Exercise is hugely pointless anyway, you'll die before you get anywhere meaningfull and even if you do you can just start with max fitness or high strength and then grind a different stat instead, which is 1000% faster

I highly recommend mods to reduce the tedium if you're serious about the exercise route. I use both x10 gains and the mod that gives a bonus from Simon's workout VHS. I guess that comes out to x80 but it still took a full month on a new toon with 0 fitness/strength to go to 10 and that was pushing it hard multiple times per day.

Also, and I am not sure if this is an effect of 1 or both or the combination of mods but the pain is awful. I can still work out tops 30-40 minutes, and even doing just 10 min of any 1 and having high regularity it is brutal. This even affects my original toon who has maxed regularity in situps/squats.

So yeah, stock up on that booze and/or painkillers & sleeping tablets (don't combine with booze, this game being realistic that ♥♥♥♥ will kill you) and feel the burn!

If any modders about, I would love a mod to re-equip my pair of fanny packs (don't judge me! 1 is my medkit and the other my smokes/small tools...they're very handy even if it's "unmanly" gotta do what you gotta do in the apocalypse!) and backpack after exercising as it is a real pain in the ass. Something to change into some work out clothes or something and change back after would rock too (between the overheating, sweating and soiling clothes I find it better to strip down but it's a hassle).

When bad weather hits like thunderstorm or thick fog I have my character work out if there's nothing more productive to do.
It's better than wasting that time.

I think the exercise fatigue pain is in some kind of transitional state. You seem to be guaranteed to reach agony regardless of how stupidly easy your workout is (a Zomboid character can do, what... like 10 push ups in 10 minutes maybe at regular time scale?), but the length just determines how long the agony stays after the 12 hour mark. So instead of having very slight, almost imperceptible discomfort like a seasoned athlete would after a workout, you just have intense pain for several hours the next day like a Martian or something.

It needs some work for sure. I think it is the first iteration and it was implemented fairly recently? So I hope it will be improved. The mods changed something for sure though, maybe the upgraded gains translates somehow to an intensified workout.
