Why do I need to use the Alternate Launch, and what exactly is it?
Hello. I can no longer use the regular launch and have to use the alternate launch. Since then I have crashed twice from running out of memory. So, I have a few questions:

1) What exactly is the alternate launch?
2) Why does it work when the regular launch doesn't?
3) Why do I have to use it now, when the regular launch used to work?

If it's a 32bit launcher, I'm sorry but I would rather fix the problem than use an inferior game launch method. I have an i9-9900K with a 2070 Super and 16 gigs of RAM. I'd appreciate the help in figuring out why I need to use this launch method as it looks like it's inferior to the default launch.

Many thanks.

2. Exes are sometimes blocked by the antivirus, the bat isnt
3. Because of number 2.
It is not inferior or different to default launch.

Also, from the log that pops up when launching this way, it looks like the game only lets me use 2048 RAM.

Thanks. Is the .json still recognized when the .bat launch is used?

The bat file contains it's own xms/xmx launch option, so just to be safe I'd edit that (just in notepad or anything) if that is what your concern is.

No, the json is ignored because the batch file uses its own parameters.

My wife is dealing with this issue on her new laptop and we are fine with needing to launch it this way but we have two issues we are hoping you all might be able to help us with.
1) The home page short cut wont work, she has to launch it from within steam.
2) It's in full screen mode, how can we get it to display in windowed?
