Can generators be safely placed inside a garage that connects with the inside of the house through a door?
I know generators inside are death sentences, but if they're placed inside the garage, does the smoke go inside the house? Does the door from the garage to the house impact the danger? Can i place the generator on an outside area on the second floor and still power the ground floor?

I don't think a garage will be safe. I've used 'isolated rooms' in other buildings to test, and the UI for the generator still gives me the danger warning. In short, wherever you put a generator, the only access you can have to it has to come from the outside.

Of course, you might be able to demolish the door from the garage into the house and replace it with a solid wall. That should change the way the game sees the garage space.

unless a ventilation system is developed, the best solution continues to be to place them on top of a player made structure.
