Blood and Saliva transmission question (about blood)
Saliva's easy enough: bites.

How's the blood transmission work though?

After fighting zombies, even if I don't get hurt -- I am splattered all over with zombie blood. Does this mean that I can get an infection just wearing it? Or do I need to suffer a wound AND be wearing bloody clothes? Or does it only have a chance to infect on a wound when a zombie splurts blood on you but not after? If you're wounded and wearing clothes that were made bloody by a zombie, is there an ongoing risk of catching it or does it just check once?

Also, is catching the infection from a bite or 'blood' guaranteed if bitten or bled on? Or do you have a chance for it to not apply?

specifically, you have to recieve a "scratched" "laceration" "bitten" wound from a zombie for the game to run a zombification check

scratches are 7% chance
lacerations are 25% chance
bitten is 100% chance

blood on clothing has absolutely no impact on your ability to avoid being infected.

Right on, so it's an "on wound" check?

Do bloody clothes have any effect, then?

I'm not sure about bloody clothes+wound but as far as I know a scratch has a minimal rate of zombie infection and a laceration something like 17-25? Don't quote me, I'm not that invested in it to factcheck my own words

But for the most part as long as you don't get bit, disinfect your wounds, and keep an eye on if you get "queasy" or not after getting scratched or bitten you should be fine

From my own personal experience blood on clothes doesn't effect anything

Bloody clothes add to the % chance of getting infected if you take a scratch/bite through the bloodied clothing.

I didn't know that, all the more reason to wash clothes!

Right on. Thanks for all the info guys... when I got this game I had no idea how deep it actually goes simulation wise, and how granular and detailed it gets in so many ways. Loving it.

Incorrect. Bloody clothes has no mechanical function right now except for the hemophobic trait. The "blood" transmission refers to getting infections from scratches and lacerations inflicted by a zombie. "Saliva" is bites.

Ah... Yes... you're correct... I found the exact wording. It was added in build 38 and I don't see anywhere where it was removed... bloody clothes have the following effect...

"If you’re wearing dirty or bloody clothing over an open wound then chances of infection (normal infection, not zombie) will increase."

Heh... I generally always do. Every night just before I go to sleep... or asap when I get damaged.

Wash yourself, too, I imagine a dirty body should contribute to that infection risk.
