Broken UI scaling fix?
I'm playing the game on a 4k screen- and even after setting the fonts in the setting to large- it's unreadibly small unless I hunch over with my face right next to my monitor. Is there anything I'm missing? Also- when I started the game up, it started command prompt for some reason.

Given that thread is from 2018, I don't think it's being fixed anytime soon. Refunded the game, but I'll pick it up again when it's fixed. Thanks for responding! :)

Just bumping this thread up to see if resolution scaling has been fixed?

Nevermind- it looks like the last update went out in June 2019 according to thenews and announcements section of the game. I'm assuming the game is abandoned :(

You'll see the latest blog posted in this section, pinned, from yesterday and the latest patch is 29 July 2021.

Far from abandoned but this issue isn't a priority right now as far as I'm aware. Wouldn't be fixed anytime soon anyway.

Oh, I see; apologies! I'm used to seeing updates in that section, it didn't occur to me to check the discussion section. Thanks for clarifying though, much appreciated!

If it can be of help, I have a crappy laptop with a fake qhd display (half font size but same image quality than hd). I just run the game fullscreen on HD. Of course this wouldn't help you if you want to run it on a large TV.

I ran this on a 27" 4K monitor; I don't have a TV :( I know I can change the resolution in Windows to 1080p that that'll fix it, but manually changing it every time I want to fire up Zomboid seems like a bandaid solution that requires too much work; I'd rather wait for a UI scaling slider or something in the future.

Actually if you go to the .exe, go to properties and then disable DPI scaling. This will allow it to play properly on a 4k monitor. This is what I did and I play on a 4k monitor in 1080 for now.

I see, thanks a lot for replying with that idea @Death! Will that cause the game to render at 1080p though- or will everything still render at 4k, but the text will be blurryish at 1080p?

It'll render at 1080 making readability better until they are able to get around to giving an official fix.

While unfortunate, for confirming! It makes sense from a development perspective I guess, why support a very small niche of users while instead, you can spend that same dev time on adding more features that will benefit a larger pool of users. Nonetheless, I'm going to retain hope that one day, this will be addressed :)

Well I think it more or less stems from the fact that when they started developing the game, 4k wasn't really as widespread and as such would take time away from much more important aspects. I'm fairly confident that they will make the necessary adjustments after the more important things are done, so likely sometime before or after 1.0 release. But in the meantime at least getting it fullscreen at 1080 makes it playable and you aren't really sacrificing much in the way of graphics fidelity in this case.

I alt tab from my game fairly frequently actually- so having the rest of my desktop at 1080p, or it jitter for a few seconds when switching into 4k would get annoying. I'll wait though; for a game I'm excited for, I'm willing to wait for an experience without quirks that I know will take away from me enjoying it.
