best weapon type ?

im starting to settle down my character so im having time and materials to actually make weapons insted of choosing anything available im liking the long blades ones but what weapon should i try other than spear

I like the short blunt weapons, Metal pipes, lead pipes, metal bar, hammers and pipewrench. Pretty common, one-handed with decent attack speed.

Axes are absurdly powerful at high level. Easy to clear out downtown westpoint with a little patience.

Spears are really good. You get very good range and damage.

Having a blend of short blade/long blunt or long blade/short blunt or any combo of axes with the previous skills is probably the best bet. You can single out a special zombie with clothes you want to keep and bludgeon or push over/finish to preserve the items you want to wear.

Spears are awesome late game; not as good as katana or pickaxe but someone with high skill in spears and maintenance can take a garden fork and hold a massive crowd at bay if he keeps moving.

One handed axes are my favorite. One hit kills mostly.

Best overall I'd say the spears. But I rarely use them. Mostly just when I find a katana or a machete, so I can make a naginata (Can't remember if that is vanilla).

I love 2h blunts. Sledgehammer being my favourite but needs some tweaking for it to be viable. Lower stamina usage and stuff. The big axe (forgot name, felling axe maybe?) as well. I just really like the running animation and fighting with the big ones.

But I run with a nailed baseball bat 90%. A classic. Fire axe if the situation needs it.

Then I have a hammer in belt slot right and screwdriver/ hunting knife in belt slot left.

It depends on if you are out scavenging, exploring or just slaying zambos.

i have a machete and oh boy that thing killed a lot of z before broking i also use the green thing for guns only but thx for the tips

For me personally I prefer the bat above all other weapons. If you get good with it, it can do one hit kills. It preserves zombie clothing so it's great for resource gathering (Materials from clothes obviously) and if any of your clothing is starting to wear down it's really easy to put on a brand new piece and go, then it is to mend it or find a clothing store to replace it. They are relatively easy to find and easy to repair. Relatively silent and just a great all rounder. I bring other weapons and use other weapons for various things but the bat is my go to in pretty much any situation

Yeah blunt weapons definitely have uses even if they lack a bit in damage. My understanding of blunt weapons is that they produce less blood as well? Which, if you take hemophobic, is quite helpful for increasing how long you can be engaged in combat before you get stressed/need to wash your clothes.

Mark me down for the HandAxe as the single greatest weapon for it's effectiveness and ease of use. Ofc a FireAxe or a WoodAxe does more damage, but they also fatigue you much faster. If I have hundreds of zombies to kill before I can sleep, I'm putting 2 handaxes on my belt and another in my fist.

The best weapon type is the one you are the most comfortable with using.

Then there are some that are a step beyond the call of duty like Hunting Knife, Machete, Katana, Fire Axe, Baseball Bat and it's superior cousin the Crowbar. These are all amazing ones. And the king of the hill of crafted weapons, the Spear.

But it always comes down to which one you are experienced with.

Spears are amazing, just make sure you are carrying alot of them, or bring knifes to make more.
