Project Zomboid

in build 41 can zombies break down tables, fridges or couches?
so I am wondering for my base, what would be the way to make it the absolute safest? and one thing that I thought of was picking up tables, fridges, couches and other things, and putting them outside of windows and doors. will this make it so that zombies wont be able to climb into those windows? or will they break them and get into the windows? I know that they break anything built by the player. but what if I use things that i didn't build and just brought from other houses? thoughts?

The best bet you have for being safe is to clear out the immediate area around you base and then make sure you windows either have curtains or some form of sight blocking barricade, be it metal sheets or planks. Also, don't sprint around even inside.

From doing that alone I haven't seen a zombie enter my houses in a long time.
ah, thanks for your imput. I think I'm gonna make a different base. since I am in raven creek with zombie spawns upped. I was thinking of making this fire station my base but it has too many windows.

You could always take the second floor if the fire station has one there.

Also i sneak in my base all the time, and even so sometimes those wondering zombies enter, or try to and bang on the door and eventually break it down:P So it may help, but not necessarily.

so there is one thing that i found while experimenting. I put a bunch of stuff that blocks movement in a diamond shape in front of the window. what happened was the zombies couldn't get past, but instead banged on them like it was a door or window, and then broke it. it's kind of annoying since I have non-provoked attacks turned off. but my theory worked and that is just one more way to slow down the zombies.

One thing i've seen they are unable to break are TV's. If you use them to barricade an entrance point the zombie AI wont be able to find a correct pathing to the player and they will just stand in the area. Just make sure before you block the entance point check if the zombies have any other way to get to you. Also putting the TV right below a window will make it a non collision object.

I've used the fire station as a base before and it works great, especially if you want to work on mechanics with that large garage. Down the street there's a small motel where you can find more than enough sheets to cover all of the windows.
yeah i've been there, and have been thinking of making a trip there to get those sheets, but there are SO MANY ZOMBIES. so i've been clearing out the zombies with a shot gun that has a modded silencer on it (i called it the silencer because that's the mod name and not becuase I don't know the real name to it).

there is a mod wihch makes furniture block line of sight and block zombie from walking. In b41 anything a zombie can crawl over/under or push aside will not stop them.

They 100% can break furniture, the best base used to be a car barricade but now they can crawl under cars you also need to build a wall behind the car (haven't tested myself but people say it works as the zombies don't attack the wall while under a car).
You can also destroy the stairs of any 2 storey building and use a sheet rope, the zombies can never get in, just make sure to replace any lost ropes.

And check if it's there in the morning because zombies may tear it down during the night and then all you can do is grind to carpentry 6 to build stairs or build floors from a neighboring building (if there is one).

That's appalling. I hope you showed no mercy.

as far as i know they can destroy anything, it doesnt matter whether u build or not. I put down large blue garbage bins, metal shelves, tables and metal sink in front of my stairs but they chewed them and caught me off guard while i was watching tv upstairs. I didnt not try blocking with TV set though, if thats correct im gonna carry all those sets from now on.:steammocking:

I call it the escher defence. Its been a round for a few years now...

All you do is build staircases so that the side that faces where zombies could approach them from is the face they cant get on the stairs from....

so the stairs run like <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

the zoms wont attack the stairs, and cant get on them,so its almost completely safe. You can also shoot thru them.In addition,if you like i find this kind of wall unsightly ,simply put a wall type you like on both sides ,so it like this
______
<<<<<<<
______

And you will mostly block of the sight of the stairs.
