Gas Station Holdout Apocalypse

I trying to live on top of the gas station in Riverside, or at least set this place up to be a second floor only safehouse with vertical rope entry point. Or zombie slaughter control point.

This is okay, since we have unlimited gas for time being, and all of the empty gas cans to fill up with and the nearby bar provide enough bottles to make a lot of Molotovs, mqybe i should make a bunch of molotovs store them at the garage, get a level 6 carpenter, build some stairs, kamikaze, grab electrician, grab a generator use the stairs to take the generator to the roof, kamikaze, get level 6 builder again, dismantle stairs, create a rope enterance and build a bridge to the gas-station cover area. From the perch here could set a siren off below attract every single zombie from the area over here and have a huge fire until zombies stop coming. Will Zombies stop coming?

But whenever it seem i try to pursue a goal i keep getting distracted by new opportunity, For example a car with a trailer tempts me back onto the roads, but survival is hard on the road. Water is scarce. I also find it really hard to level up carpentry, 1, getting hold of the screwdriver and hammer, or sledge. 2. if u miss the carpentry tv show thats alot more beds, doors and chairs you'll have to dismantle. So i always get hard blocked at somepoint either because i take a really nice opportunity like car with trailer, or i cant get the character at a point where hes useful enough to do this within first few days.

The dream is to have an electrician get a generator up there. Set a TV and radio up on the roof and enjoy what remains of the story without having to worry about being snuck up on.

Is hard

I am doing something similar to one painful year challenge and i have a similar plan for Riverside, minus the molotovs, and that i will establish base on spiffos across the gas station since, being to close to the police station would stop spawning the police zeds there and guns and ammo they sometimes carry:). Allthough only 2 months left to actually make it before i have to move out. (One painful year challenge thing you have to do.)

I am guessing you are playing on apocalypse mode, since you mentioned tv.
Also no clue why you wish to kamikaze your guys. You have to just find the how to use generators magazine to be able to install a generator. Nothing else.(Maybe level 1 electrician but you can get that with dismantling tv-s, watches and radios)
Your way of double kamikaze is actually a waste of time and characters.
Just level up the first guy to level 6 builder and also to level 1 electrician keep an eye out for how to use generators and you are set. If i was you i would start the burn further away, since you may actually burn down your whole base by accident, instead of just the zeds. And depending on the settings zombies can respawn, and depends how often they do as how you set it up.
Also you dont need to be an electrician to set up TV and radio. Just place them down when you have a working generator that is it. Electrician currently is i would say the most useless profession to take since he only starts with skills that are aquirable. Starting with generator knowledge is not worth taking electrician.

Gas station holdout is much easier in Rosewood.

Or at the gas station on the far east. There is a 2 storied gas station northeast from the mall. Two story house, with a river/creek branch ending nearby too.

Interesting.

I want to do it fast, like within the first day.
At least, run a few characters just to do risky loot run, and drop off at station within 4 hours.
ride the next character in, continue the work.
Increase chance of finding advanced Carpentry books to push for the eventual staircase. Dump them at the gas station round up the local hoard, kamikaze them away from the gas station. Return as a carpenter, go to gas station read the books. Build the staircase, get on the roof, dismantle staircase, set up the rope.

Now all future characters have a safe house completely unreachable and maybe this can be done in the first day or 2, so that i can spend a long time on that roof with a tv and radio.

Theres a road somewhere with two gas stations either end. But one of these stations is small only has the 1 gas pump.

Okay so first issue you likely cannot get to level 6 on the first day with carpentry. I think you can start with level 4, and even if you find a book, and read it before the show (fast reader) you will at best get to about level 5, or near level 5(maybe with fast learner you can achieve level 6 not sure). Thereafter you would need to be dismantling everything around so you need to obtain the tools, find enough stuff to dismantle while avoiding all the zeds. -> not seems possible.
If you manage to do this on the second day, get to level 6 in carpentry, get enough planks to build the stairs. You still need to clear the place you wish to overtake. Usually gas stations are swarming with zeds, so you will have a hard time clearing it and even if you lead them away, eventually a few will be crawling in from some other place to refill the empty space. -> not seems likely, allthough with a lot of luck it may be possible, but chances are very low.

So now you have on your second day the stuff you need built, the stairs. Then you would need to obtain a generator. In Riverside if i recall well, there are 11 sheds alltogether, spread out through the town. The Grated community has 4, the southern street 2, and then there is 2-3 more within town, and the rest far on the west around or past the Wreckers. Each of these has a chance to spawn a generator, but it is not necessarily so. If none of them has a generator, you would need to go down to Southern Riverside to the Storage lot (beside the warehouses), get a sledgehammer and check the storage lots for generators, while getting rid of the zeds, oh yeah and you need a car for this too:)

I know Riverside well on apocalypse settings, but my guess is this can be done with certain way built characters in 5 days. Without the need to kill them. Getting a car within the first two days is not hard. Getting to level 6 carpentry if you start with level 3 or 4 carpentry within 5 days is also possible, allthough still relies on luck, lot of map knowledge and the like.
Just killing off characters will not really do you good, because there may come certain events that your freshly made character will not be able to overcome. (For instance you get your generator attached, and eventually it will degrade, but you will not be able to attach a backup generator if your character does not have read how to use generators, so you will need to turn it off every time you wish to repair it. Which does not help for your foodstuff in the fridge.)

Oh there was about a year ago a guy with a similar plan to make a base, while killing off his characters continuously to allways have the one guy needed to do something. Dig around a bit, but eventually he was made to realize that this is a terrible way to solve the original base building plan issue he had.

You probably mean the tourist trap north and neighboring town to the east. The town has 5-10 buildings, but zombie spawns cover both a large part of the road and wilderness. So it's a bad place to settle, but good place to loot (gun store, hunting store, gas station, restaurant). The tourist trap on the other hand has access to the waterfront, more than one two-storey stores, along with some two-storey houses on the outskirts.
