Does it ever get too cold for a tent?

Is it ever be too cold to sleep out in a tent?

What happens if a zom discovers your tent in the night while you sleep are you doomed? Are you protected?

I'm pretty sure they'd just eat you. It'd be like sleeping on the ground, only more comfortable.

I had to sleep in a tent once for a quick recovery. Zombies will break the tent trying to get you - the sound gives you enough time to react as your character wakes up wondering what's going on.

Tents are good if you're out in the middle of nowhere - just gotta be mindful of where you setup. It's about knowing where it's pretty safe to do it. It's pretty useful otherwise.

Is your character actually in the tent now? I'm playing on a version of build 41 that's a little behind the current version.
Your character is only in the tent when he's sleeping (as the screen goes black). Otherwise there's no entering it directly.

I would of assume there be an advantage like there’s if you hmm. I guess the type of tent we have here is not a sleek Nilon tent you know those modern dome ones with zipper. A common tent it’s an old open tent so I guess you could get snuck up on

If you were in a decent tent it the zombie would struggle to get in and probably couldn’t tell if you were it’s prey or not.

Might be worth mentioning that zombies can't attack you whilst you sleep. They might bite you the instant you wake up, however!

Yeah, these tents are pretty basic ones. Using just a tarp and some pegs. Very flimsy things under those conditions with zeds ripping away.

Yes, quick reaction time is key. So if you're anticipating a zombie to come on in (I sometimes sleep at risky times like a chad) you can get out of it in time.

This makes playing a Security Guard pretty powerful. You run faster, longer stamina, while having the added perk of being more aware as you sleep. I love that.

Also it’s pegged to the ground and the player probably has grass inside the tent like as the floor. So not like those ones where you are completed encapsulated in water proof material.
Pretty much.

Just a quick portable means of temp shelter.

In something like the zombie apocalypse I understand it. Sometimes you don't have time to sit in one place for too long. Getting one of those fancier tents would be extra baggage and take too long to setup.

As a saying goes in the military: "Be light on your feet" or some crap.

It's one reason why I have multiple vehicles for instance. I have a big truck, like a box-truck that houses my medical supplies, guns and extra rations as a mobile armourly/med-bay/pantry for when ♥♥♥♥♥ really hits the fan.

When I installed the ZIL-130 mod, it changed everything. That thing is such a beast for this. Simple, robust Russian engineering at it's finest.

I think I've slept in a tent outdoors twice. That was in the middle of absolutely nowhere so I thought the risk worth it. Not ideal but better than getting even more lost in dark woods and/or running into a pack of zeds while dead tired.

OTOH, I do carry a tent around in my "travel kit" and use it regularly because it can be set up indoors as well and provides average bed quality. Chairs are very common but worse quality and not *every* structure has one available. Tent is just a portable (very light!) bed that can also be used outdoors in a pinch. Very useful, imo.
