IWBUMS

I'm relatively new to Project Zomboid and I was wondering if stable builds only came after the next build series is finished being developed in IWBUMS? So while build 42 is in IWBUMS the stable build will stay in build 41 until IWBUMS moves on to 43 and so on. Sorry if my question isn't clear I'm just not sure how else to put it.

build 41 is taking a VERY long time to go public mainly for the reason that it was a huge rebalance of the combat and animations of the game which many people had serious complaints about (and thus they didn't want to force it on people until it was finished) so it took longer than normal.

So this isn't typical in how long they're holding off from bringing IWBUMs to the stable branch?

No, it's not. They're LITERALLY remaking EVERYTHING in terms of graphics, not the mention overhauling many of the more descrete and important parts of the game (Food, Weapons, Meta events, etc)

I know people are getting bugged by how long the update is taking, but generally speaking, once IWBUMS is out, you could almost consider it Zomboid 2 lol.

Anyhow, generally speaking, NO, this is NOT how most updates will be. Once IWBUMS is officially out, expect the usual content/QoL updates that most games would give (Except for NPC's. NPC's will take forever since they want good, in-depth ones)

I'm not bothered by the time it has taken; they did pretty much gut the entire inside of the game and start again for this build. I just wanted to know the usual update cycle. Though I've never played build 40, I did see how the combat changed from old videos and I'm glad I never had to make that transition.

IWBUMS comes out ---> IWBUMS becomes complete ---> IWBUMS is pushed out to public ----> progress of IWBUMS 1.1 (Build 42) starts but will not drop right away, it takes some time.


Build 40 IWBUMS finished around according to a post on Dec 13 2018. Build 41 IWBUMS started on Oct 17 2019, So almost an year of waiting (Worth it :D). So I'm expecting 42 within 8-12 months but you will never know. Cheers!

Yup you got it. The next build is in Iwillbackupmysave. The most stable build where they have put all the finishing touches on it is the public build. Honestly though their beta builds are really solid and stable. I only see them make tweaks for balancing issues and to add new stuff to the game like beer cans and leashes =D oh and of course spears and a bunch of other things that aren't out in the public build as of yet
