Any mod for zombie attacks?
Is there any mod that periodically spawns hordes that attack your base? I've found end-game to be awfully boring because once the area around the base has been cleared there's really no point to building up a defense.

Helicopter even on often is really only a problem for the start of the game. A clear town will remain clear even after 100 helicopter events.

Going out of ones way to kill zombies doesn't make much sense from a survivors perspective either.

can't you just make the zombie spawn rate higher?

AFAIK They don't spawn in areas that you are have seen and the main base is an area that you see a lot. If you mean to disable that, then a few zombies would spawn and it would just be annoying to deal with constantly.

I'm thinking more of a large scale event that happens once a month or something with hundreds of zombies at once.

Yeah I looked at that, but from what I can see it's not really specifically meant for attacking your base.

Sounds like you want something akin to Hound attacks from Dont Starve; Weekly attacks where Hounds that slowly increase in number assault your base.

I feel like that would get rid of some of the "realism", because a horde shouldn't have to spawn at your base if there wasn't one around anyways.

You can drastically lower the time that you've visited an area before the zombies respawn, that may be a good start.

Pretty much, yeah.

I think that everyone should be allowed to decide how much "realism" they want in their game. Realism is only fun to a certain point. When the zombies don't become a threat anymore unless one goes out of their way to make them one, the game becomes boring.

The zombies are only a threat at the start of the game and in hordes and large hordes do not form naturally anywhere, unless you speed through west point while yelping in an ambulance.

With a character that is a month old I could clear the whole map with a machete if I had the will, time and patience.

I really can't see turning on zombie respawn doing the trick. That would just mean a couple of zombies spawn here and there and that wouldn't be hard or exciting to deal with. Annoying at best.

Lower your Redistribution Hours to like 4 hours so there will be some zombies coming to you every 4 hours, or set it to 0.1 so there will be zombies coming almost the whole time (setting it to 0 disables the migration)
Redistribution Hours affects the time until zombies start moving towards empty areas in order to make them "populated" again, for even better effect try disabling Respawn Unseen Hours by inputting 0 in it. I'm unsure if it'll cause "cheaty" zombie spawns near you though. :deadrat:

I have zombie distribution on, but I think that just causes zombies from the same cell to migrate which is a problem because it's empty XD.

Have you tried the scenario that is specifically set up to send hordes to your base in increasing numbers?

Yeah, but I just want to play the normal game with zombie hordes.
Maybe take the code from that scenario and make a mod for the regular game? Idk.

I haven't played in years so I'm just spit-balling here but I believe that the scenarios were all created with the Custom Sandbox options so if you could figure out what those options are you could reproduce a custom game along with any other "normal" settings that you want. Maybe if a scenario is started it might create an INI file with those settings it it? Maybe there's a save editor available that would allow you to open up a scenario save to investigate. If you could figure out what those settings are you wouldn't need a mod.

I don't think so since there are round timers like cod zombies.

Well, sorry that I couldn't be of more help. Best of luck.

You gave good ideas. Modders could make this happen.

I'm sure there is code in those that could be used to make this happen in the real game, but I've no programming skill whatsoever so it'd be up to someone who does. :steamsad:
