How to disinfect bandages
I dont get the crafting system still. I dont understand what im doing wrong. I can craft disinfected bandages with water bottles and a clean bandage. I saw i could use a sauce pan with water to do it as well. i filled up the sauce pan with water and i couldnt craft them, then i remembered someone tell me you had to boil water first for some recipies so i did that and i still cant craft it even though all it says is i need a clean bandage and a sauce pan with water. I dont understand why it wont let me craft it even though i have the materials.

you probably need to do it while its boiling in the oven. try leaving it inside.

Put the water into a heat source (like an oven) and wait for it to get hot, standing next to whatever you are heating the water in, and with the bandages or rags you want to sterilize in your main inventory (not a bag) right clicking on them should give you a sterilize option.
I had several hundred hours in the game before I learned that bandages could be sterilized with hot water so don't feel bad.

Oh thanks lol. Yeah someone told me before i just needed to cook the water so i thought just putting it in and then when it was done taking it out would work. Had no idea i had to leave the pot in the oven lol. Thanks for the info

The option won't even come up unless you have met all of the conditions, which makes it impossible to know what you are doing wrong on your own. After putting many hours into the game I like how crafting works, its simple and non-intrusive, on the other hand for someone new to the game its not at all learner friendly.

It requires the water to be hot. It’s a cool effect but it doesn’t mention it in the recipe screen. I stumbled across it by right clicking a pot of water I was boiling to purify and noticed the option to disinfect bandages.

on that note with purifying water, do i need to boil water first say when im filling my empty water bottles from a sink before i drink them or say when i fill a pot to make spaghetti in? I figure with that the water with the spaghetti it wouldnt matter since im cooking the food any way but i never really considered if i had to boil water from sinks or whatever that i use to fill my water bottles.

No. Unless the water says (Tainted) when you fill a container, you don’t need to boil it.

You also can use tainted water for soup since it will purify when you cook it.
