not sure if still applicable but you can use the push/shove move via space bar against trees and it increases your strength by very slow pace like few xp points per shoves ( I think of it like push ups)

I think that was fixed in build 41. You are meant to use the fitness system now.

If you are on build 41 you can do pushups and burpees and stuff to level your strength. That's the fastest way but if you want to do it have a stockpile of food so you don't have to leave your base while your are sore/exhausted.

and if you work out for like an hour in game, expect to be sore for about a full day after soreness starts. (which is 12 hours after starting your workout.)

Yep. Cutting trees is still a good option too, just foraging for the sharp stones, and make some axes. raises your maintenance AND your str:)

Workout times work well on longer days and in the mornings. That way you'll be winding down from your day when the pain kicks in and can simply take a painkiller or a beer or two to get to sleep.
You get some strength just by lugging heavy crap around all the time. Like mentioned above, chopping wood is awesome. So is cleaving and bashing skulls. Combining all this with some barbell/dumbbell exercises in the morning is a winning strategy.

I have been using skill xp notifications mod and have begun to realize this is based on total weight and not necessarily actual encumbrance. If you have some high weight reducing bags (or complete negation like the pallet jacks and dollies from hydrocraft) you can earn a ton of strength xp without actually being encumbered.

You can, but i would say just do 40 minutes and then you are good. You can also check how much xp you get for one pushup for instance, and check how long it takes for your char to get completely exhausted. (Cant do excersize then.) Make a calculation and see if it is worth it or not.
On another run i did every day for a while 40 minutes of pushups 10 burpees and 10 min situp. I was around level 5-6 str from 0 in about november?
And on level 3-4 endurance too.

Amount of reps in a period changes with game speed. On 4x day length, a 10 minute set of exercise gets you 4x the XP because the animation speed is fixed... I’ve been doing just 20 minutes of exercise a day (10 rest 10 rest - comes out to an hour total with the rest breaks) and get around 300 Xp per exercise cycle - which doesn’t include the gains from moving and fighting.
