How to read/decipher isoregiondata?
Hello!

When I merged my saves (with success) after returning to my base I saw that in every container that wasn't built by me (the ones that aren't available to build or were generated by the game) have removed their contents (I have been storing things in them) and replaced it with the usual loot you find in any other untouched container. I have a backup file of my world before merging it with another. I have tried changing the chunk data file, but it did nothing. I want to try and change the isoregiondata files from that exact location, but I have no idea how to do it without obliterating the files that I have added. That's why I'm writing this: how do I identify which isoregiondata files relate to what chunks?

Another thing is that power and water came back on (even though in the settings it's 4 months since the beginning of the outbreak) after I merged the files.

If anyone could help me I would be really thankful! :spiffo:

As far as I know, isoregion data only controls the boundaries of buildings and not the contents of the containers.
The containers are purely saved within the chunk . bin files

Hm, alright. I'll try tinkering with those in that case. Thanks!

I've don that and what is weird, is that everything seems to be where it should... Except for the kitchen counters. All other game generated containers have what I put in them, but not these. Maybe it has something to do with the settings and the items being overwritten by unnecesarry generation of new ones, but that doesn't explain why wardrobes contain what they should

I am not really sure, it could be some mess-up between the chunks, though I have no idea how it would be possible to specifically fix kitchen counters, since no other .bin files contain item data.

I've tried moving the items on one save file to the containers that didn't seem to be touched when moving chunk data, but it appears that this didn't work - the items weren't present neither in the counters or crates. At this point I have no idea how to keep my gathered loot from disappearing :steamsad:

I managed to transfer the items succesfully! I had to pick up the items with my character (to pick up all of them I had to use a couple of duffle bags and backpacks) on the obsolete save, then transfer the player data onto the new one, and it actually worked! Now all I will have to do is once again organise it and everything should be okay. I guess this was more walk over solution rather than solving the problem, but hey, if it works, it works!
