can you heat a room with campfire / bbq during winter?
^^

i never made it to winter yet, so i don't know how the mechanics work. i've read that a room with electricity will stay warm. can you use a campfire or charcoal bbq as well?

Yes, but if I remember correctly using either of those two things indoors is not a good idea. A campfire can burn your house down and the BBQ grill can kill you. What I recommend is finding one of the antique wood burning stove and bring one of those home.

BBQ used to not give any heat just allow you to cook. Maybe it got changed need to test it out.

Another option is to settle in a house that has a fireplace already.
Also would be fun if could make those metal barrels into fireplaces:D

Actually now that you mention it, I think you're right. It's been awhile since I tried using one.

BBQ is good for cooking, since you can just add enough fuel to it to cook whatever you want and then it is set. Whereas you can use an antique oven for both cooking and heating, meaning you have to pay a lot more attention to not burn your house down:)

Is why i actually separate fuel types by "burning time", so charcoal, books, magazines, branches, unusable wood and so on.

Unless things have changed since i last made an indoor firepit, a coupke years back,if you do it right ,even with fire sprread on, its safe to do.

I made multiple videos showing indoor firepits back then. They are probably still on the net somewhere

Camping supplies works like that, it was no question.

The thing is that BBQ does not give heat. You can cook with it, but it wont allow you to heat up a room:) (I think it is still okay this way)

Would be nice if we could use those empty metal/oil barrels to make fireplaces out of:)

thanks. so it seems that you need to surround your campfire with sand or gravel, and no roof (3x3) above the fire. makes sense.

Long johns are pretty great for colder nights.

My exp was you only had to have the roof area directly above the square the fire was in an open 3x3 roof free area for the first 2 or 3 floors above it.At some point you can have only the one square directly above the fire square open.

If you MUST use the campfire in a shelter, make sure the tile above it is knocked out, for ventilation. Same for BBQ. Charcoal BBQ seems ok without a vent tile (for now).
