How does food poisoning work?
Iv'e tried to find facts about this on the internet but a lot are dated or incomplete.
My first question is if "Weak Stomach" makes it so that you are 100% guaranteed to become poisoned from raw, rotten or poisoned berries/mushrooms (from any source that usually have a percentage chance to give you food poisoning). Is this trait worth taking?
My second question is, what exactly can give you food poisoning? Can some water give you this, in which case, which water? Can raw fruits and vegetables five food poisoning?
In other words, what food or beverage can give you this affliction?

EDIT: The game is hugely popular but there are so little numbers gathered on the web. I can not even see what percentage is it to gain poisoning from tainted water.

So if I mix poison berries in a meal, that meal will give me food poisoning?

I believe there is a chance for you to get ill from it yes but if you play online you can even get fed food as well so that's another way to poison someone.

Interesting. I will have to stay away from gifted food then.

Trait itself is worth taking. I never play a game without it. You really need to stay away from rotten food. If you hoard enough stuff to popsicle fridges (found at gas stations) and canned food, then you survive easily long enough to potatoes grow.

Only problem is as above said. Multiplayer screwing you up or eating berries without Herbalist hobby (doesn't include black/blueberry at level 2+ foraging).

What about raw foods? Will it give me food poisoning easily from those?

Fruits, Vegetables and Mushrooms are safe. Cooking helps make stale food not cause mood lost. Raw meat/fish/egg will get you sick. Rainwater that isn't boiled does same.

Edit: Burned food can cause it also. Keep on eye of your food so you don't burn it and also your home while at it.

Devs seems to have gone for a realistic approach, infection, zombification, food poisoning, it's all designed to be ambiguous. Which is true to life sometimes u get away from dodgy foods or days old pizza, u just have to wing it instead of thinking of a fixed percentage.

I always take weak stomach because I cook all my meals, water is filtered or boiled, so it's free points. Any rotten foods can be converted to fertilizer so nothings wasted.

I wouldn't say the game is hugely popular. Known, sure. But not hugely popular. Also, the game is still under active development. The reason why you don't get to see a lot of hard numbers is because they're constantly changing as things get introduced and balanced. Furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if there are tons of factors that contribute to seemingly simple results. This game is very much on a simulator level. You character's current condition such as already being sick, tiredness, exhaustion, temperature, might all play into these chances.

There are three 2000+ streamers maining it for two-three weeks now, id say that should say something about popularity and numbers. They play beta build only.
But yea, maybe you are right, who knows. It did feel very popular lately however.

I have a lot to learn. Did not know I could use fertilizer with rotten food. Does rotten food never disappear btw?

Btw, I think they went a bit overboard with having to boil rainwater.

I don't think they disappear, I've only lasted around half a year tops and they're still there.

Its not too bad with boiling water I usually do it while I'm cooking meals and later on u can filter rain water through sinks no boiling necessary. I also take High thirsty, it's so easy to deal with more free points.

Unless the mushroom is poisonous:)

Rotten food only disappear if you make it into fertilizer/compost in a composter.
Or if you remove them via trash(delete) or place on a zombie and then they will disappear eventually along with a zombie.

No, but if it's a stale poisoned/burned food then you can still get food poisoning.

Also, this is hella necro.

In my language "gift" literally is our word for poison.
