Have they moved regular needle spawns?
Where do you find them now?

u can find them in clothing shops or in factories. Unless you decreased the spawning rates in the sandbox options before creating the world

Also curious where people find them.

I've loaded several worlds of CDDA which i believe have rare loot and i only found 1 in a cardboard box (the smaller version). It was in Mauldragh just above the Bookshop in the next room there were 2 boxes and 1 of them spawned it for me.

Couldn't find them in:
- Large Wood boxes
- Large Cardboard boxes
- Medicine Cabinet
- Bathroom Counters
- Any Wardrobe variants

If anyone else has found them in any of the above please let me know. This was done in 41.53.

I have found 2 in Riverside Factory crates (Extremelly Rare setting)

I had to spawn one in since I haven't seen any in all the warehouse locations I've been through. It's pretty annoying actually. Before they were at least fairly plentiful, but now the way they're weighted makes zero sense (well I mean it does, but it should be way more common). They really should be items you can find in regular house loot as a sewing kit or something. Even I have a small sewing kit in my house and I've never used it.

I would think they would occur in homes, but after checking many I still haven't found one. The one clothing store I checked didn't have any either.

There are two basic spawns in rosewood, but other than those two, it can only be random from houses WC. In anyway, those are in an room fire apartment, and the other in the medical building of rosewood.

Over 150+ hours, I ever only found one. Granted, this has all been in the Muldraugh/Dixie region... but still. Very rare find.

And to be honest, I don't have a single needle anywhere in my own house... it think.

In 10+ weeks ive found 3
2 in a factory, 1 in a random house

They are very rare in 41.53
Way too rare...

It's rare and I do believe it should be rare. I wouldn't say a needle is a common household item. That said it's not a crucial item that you 100% need for survival but extremely nice to have. Those leather patches may very well be the rolls you need to save your run in game especially with your tailoring maxing assuming you manage to survive that long.

A needle is pretty crucial for survival if you have a deep wound, I'd say.

Edit: I suppose you can use surgery needles for stitching yourself up though, now that I think about it.

A needle is a very common household item, especially for the 90s. Sewing kits for minor repairs in middle to low income families would be 100% part of "junk drawers" and clothing storage areas alike. Even I have a small sewing kit with several bobbins of thread and a few needles that I got for less than a dollar. Heck these things are in grocery stores, that's how common they would be in the PZ world.

I think game balance is important, but honestly if we want to be realistic here, you'd want a totally separate class of needles for leather anyway. My suggestion is to make the player character struggle to use a normal needle for leather patches. I don't know if anyone has done basic clothing modification, but patches like we do in PZ would be time consuming and difficult even for the denim and cloth patches, never mind leather.

Make it much more time consuming to do with a normal needle while doing leatherwork, and have the character injure their fingers while performing tailoring and eventually make them unable to continue to practice if their hands are too injured. Less so while working with fabric, but the player should have more of a chance to injure themselves at a lower level.of tailoring.

Never had one but i've never had an issue finding the surgery needles. Usually walk away with at least one from raiding a medical center.

No idea when Project Zomboid is taking place but we definitely had needles at our house in the 90s but almost never used them. If it's in the 90s or further back it'd make more sense.

1993 I think is the specific year, but I could be mistaken. Computers don't look the be common at all, no references (or hardly any) to the internet. Common car body styles are a close approximation to the era. Latest tech seen are CD players, and the odd LCD screen here and there.

IRL: I have needles and i still use them. When a button falls off my shirt or coat, i wont buy a new one, i sew it back. Hell if i recall well in the late 90-s (ok it is Middle-Eastern Europe) we had one or two sewing classes even. To learn some kind of basic sewing, was mandatory for everyone.

In game: It seems that there is a huge distinction now between the "Warehouses". Not sure what their category types can be beside warehouse and factory, but it seems that certain types have certain items. You can find antique oven in one and none in the other, for instance. Pretty sure it is the same with needles, not to mention sewing kits are even a more rare find.

I imagine at the 90s almost all homes had a needle except for maybe single young guys. But I mean even adult single men used needles. Today? Many houses still use needles.
