1.0 Release?
This game has been in early access for many years and I've been waiting to pick it up once it releases fully. I'm just curious if there's any rough time frame for the 1.0 release? Another year? 2? Just to temper my expectations.

No ETAs. It's done when it's done.

Just forget about it. No expectations - no disappointment.

Probably not before 2024-2025 and this is very optimistic

Or you could consider it as in 1.0 now....with every new update being a free DLC

As someone who's had this since its first week, i wouldn't expect this to be finished anytime soon. They've made great progress since 1.0 but updates have always been incredibly slow. Luckily mods can make up for the long time between updates.

It's a great game overall and I would recommend it to survival game fans but it's clear their team has management / resource issues when it comes to development, but the positive to this i suppose is they don't rush out content.

I'm assuming NPC's are still not part of the game?

I guess I'm partly asking, what can I expect from the game at this point. I understand it's a sandbox survival experience but what key features does it have now, and what is it still missing?

It has the majority of features you'd expect from survival games really. Key features would be the map size, vehicles, variety in clothing for zombies/players. There's so many things that are impossible to list though. You have the Noiseworks update coming soon (Alien: Isolation sound designers), Louisville, VHS/CDs also.

No NPCs yet, but they're a big part of the game so the next few builds (42, 43 etc) will focus mainly on them. They're the only key thing missing really at this point for the game to be 'complete'.

Here's the plan after Build 41 is released to the stable branch:

@MadDan Is there any word on when 41 will be released to stable? Haven't they been working on build 41 for almost 3 years now?

Do you know if curved streets are planned? Now that vehicles are in those sharp 90° turns seem completely out of place in rural areas and they are also don't feel good to drive.

Are there any plans to change the map to support different heights? I imagine that could be challenging to implement with vehicles. Ultima Online had a tile based map that displayed height differences, made for a much more immersive map.

There was a video about curved roads a few weeks back in an update video, that one of the devs is working on it.

About height difference the only place i encountered it is the train yard near Muldrough.

If they finish the multiplayer it looks mostly complete for a survival game to me. And not that multiplayer is an issue for me i play solo.

Ah I guess I didn't see that one, great to hear!

I mean height differences on the map itself. Like I said, Ultima Online did it like that.

Who cares if the devs take 5 or 10 years to get to 1.0... as long as they dont go DLC or MTX crazy.
For me the game is fun and worth, as a EA title, so I dont really care how long, as long as it there is no extra cost to get to 1.0.
At 1.0 then I will judge the game, and the team.
Oathbetrayer Aug 10, 2021 @ 7:40pm
I don't think it will ever get to a full release because video game industry seems to always do this.
Sadist_cain Aug 11, 2021 @ 1:48am
41 has a 1 in it,

1 achieved, job done.
PoopChugler Aug 11, 2021 @ 4:43am
Honestly grab the game on a sale and you will enjoy it, trust me. Updates are slow, but there are updates and thats what is best about it. Other small teams just drop their games after they get attention, try to milk them, and so far these devs havent implemented any micro crap.
