sledgehammer and mop incredible rare spawn
It looks like there is something wrong with sledgehammer spawn in build 41. I played this game in survival mode for 70 hours and I saw sledgehammer only once(it was laying on a road)! My last playthrough lasts about 30-40 hours so far (71 ingame days) but I wasn't able to find it. I've raided all warehouses and storage buildings in Muldraugh except one small, McCoy logging Corp, Construction site, about 1/3 or more houses, searched maybe 500 wooden crates(I've got tons of other tools); the last 10 days I was hunting solely for sledgehammer with no success... Don't you think that it's too much? Eventually, I gave up and used cheats(debug mode) to get one: I just couldn't justify spending another 10-20 hours to search for it... By the way, the same thing is with the mop. I haven't seen a single one at all, I wouldn't even know it is in the game if I didn't google "how to washout blood stains on walls and floor". What do you think? Was it so incredibly rare in previous builds, is it a bug or I am the unluckiest man in the whole Knox Country? I saw some streamers that found sledgehammer in the first hour of their playthrough...

Sledge hammer is ideal for sneaking into and locking down the gun shop. This for me is why is such a valuable item. Demolish walls.

I noticed this too after playing about 70 hours in 41.50 they recently updated to 41.51-53 and the sledgehammer spawn seems completely different and MUCH more rare. In my first play through of 41.51 I search all of Riverside and Westpoint. I stopped randomly at one of the warehouses in the middle of the map and the very last crate I checked had a single Sledge.

My first play though of 41.50 where I made it longer than a month I found 8 sledgehammers in a single warehouses.

Clearly something is changed and I frankly am not a fan of spending 2 months searching for a damn sledgehammer... they're pretty common IRL AFAIK

A lot of the spawn had changed now you see things like tool boxes more often, there’s more metal sheets and raw progression materials floating around. The sledge has more RNG competition when it spawns and is thus less likely to spawn

you can usually find mops and bleach in janitor closets in churches and sometimes schools

I haven't read the entire thread, but if you haven't already, check mechanic shops. Swear to god, i've never had one that didn't have a sledge hammer.

just checked car repair shop in Muldraugh, but it's a small one (I believe it's the only one here) - nope)) 77 days without a sledge...

I've only found 2 rolls of duct tape and a single bottle of wood glue in my current character's 2 month survival. I've been through two warehouses and a self-storage facility and both rolls were found in a kitchen. Really annoying and unfortunate.

For glue and duct tapes, ive found some in schools, mostly in the tables in classrooms

I totally understand the OP's observations. I've had a VERY hard time finding the survivors who looted the sledges and mops, since I started playing.

I've found sledge... it took me 91 day and apx 45 hour ingame time)). I found it in a place I would never think of - empty store behind Bookshop in Muldraugh, in one of two card boxes there...

It's unrelated to the topic but can anybody tell me what is going on with the fire? I've used molotov once and zombies that were offscreen were burning alive more than 2 days and probably would burn more. It looks like fire doesn't stop when it's offscreen, right? Is it a bug?

Fire can spread offscreen yeah. Until rain zombies can keep catching other zombies as they are recruited and come into contact with each other. Sometimes you’ll find a stray burner 3 or 4 days later. Depends how effective the fire was. They usually die pretty quickly though the zombies dying from burning and bar explosion at twiggies died in less than 1 irl minute of burn from ignition until death, 1 minute but sometimes they can take a longer time

I didn't get it) Zombie can burn from like 10 minutes(1 minute irl i guess it's apx 10 min in game ) up to 4 days. So it's a bug, it's utterly unrealistic, how can someone burn few days irl?) And what defines "how effective the fire was"? I thought there is only one setting for demage per minute for the fire. Now it looks like if I set on fire 100 zombies they and others will burn forever at least until it's raining. Therefore molotov is useless unless you want to burn a town.
Animalman Aug 8, 2021 @ 4:37pm
It Might not be the same zom I’ve never watched an individual for four days but the fire can go wild light the grass ignite the zom.

The fire can stick around for days and in hot and dry weather

I guess explosion applies a damage to the zombie and then the flame makes it so they only survive about 1 min.

But a normal Molotov they will burn for an hour or two in game or so and die.

I imagine engineer flame bomb applies similar damage and shortens burn time compared to Molotov

I have played for > 125 hours and have never found a sledge hammer. I have found quite a few mops. 100% agree sledge is too hard to find, and probably should be allowed as a crafting option if you have enough metal.
