Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Is there some kind of difficulty progression?
I've been playing with a friend for like 4 hours in total of this game and ive already got a few events like when there is a gunshot and a lot of zombies appear around but i wanted to know if there really is something else to it like zombies getting stronger or getting more zombies to populate the map.

I've also seen a bunch of forums with people telling about how there is stuff like other helicopters getting a lot of zombies around the area, water and electricity getting cut off around day 10-30 or how the season changes (specially winter) are pretty hard to endure but i am not sure if they added anything new apart from all those random events looking at how most of the forums ive seen were from 2015.

For now i find the game pretty easy just looting houses and stuff like it should be but stuff like the zombies themselves seem to be pretty easy to deal with considering we could take down like hordes of 20 like nothing (wich i also heard the devs will change that in the version 41 of the game or something but i dunno.).

Rally group size can get a LOT bigger than twenty lol. First of all, welcome to the game. Allow me to be the first to wish you a spectacular and noteworthy death.

Okay, now that the pleasantries are over with, check your sandbox settings. You don't have to setup custom games yet if you don't want to, but each vanilla difficulty level's recommended settings are also listed here, so you can get a relative idea of what the multipliers are for population at apocalypse vs. survivor, for example.

The gunshot is what's called a 'meta-event' and those are also configurable.

It sounds like you're on build 40 still. If you're up to the challenge, opt in to the build 41 beta. You'll still have the option for multiplayer, but only on steam remote play (instructions on separate thread). Combat is much more challenging, and your initial power level vs. that of the undead is merely noteworthy as opposed to heroic, at least until you level up a bit. Regardless of how tough you get as a survivor, don't attempt to engage more than two or three head on or you'll (literally) get dragged down and eaten. Feinting, and using your melee weapon's maximum range or maximum speed is paramount to surviving. There's scratch and bite protection somewhat in clothing, but over time and fighting it'll get ripped to shreds and you'll have to get new stuff. Predictably, guns are really loud (the .38 special is palatable for training on vanilla) so pick and choose where you want to use them. Check the newb threads for more info if you like.

Hmm i see, ill check later with my friend about the world settings i guess. But i am not sure how good is it to change stuff like the zombie spawn rate from normal to insane and i also saw that i have the helicopter event to only happen once for some reason too.

I would suggest you change helicopter settings to sometimes. This means the helicopter will show up every 7-10 days.

Also you can change everything you want in the Sandbox setting, the game isn`t easy, so just check the settings out, you can even play with sprinters fe.

So you're playing Multiplayer which means you're on Build 40, very old version and only relevant still as it's got multiplayer. That's being rebuilt for Build 41, frankly, to make it not ♥♥♥♥♥. It did its job, but with all the improvements of Build 41 it's a much needed upgrade.

It's gotten a lot more difficult on Build 41 Apocalypse mode. And of course you can edit all those settings individually too we added to make it less/more difficult. Build 40 is nothing in comparison.

You can switch install both versions at the same time, so you don't have to switch back and forth if you want to play Build 41 on your own, and Build 40 with your friend for the time being.

Here's how: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/f3a0bk/want_to_play_multiplayer_without_switching_back/

Hmm ok i just took a look at that build 41 and it really seems to add a lot of stuff wich seems nice, but is there multiplayer implemented in that build yet? If there is i wouldnt mind to just throw the thing we made into the trash bin, we really just looted a bunch of houses and followed some roads.

Nope, that's the only thing holding it back from replacing Build 40 right now. There is local splitscreen and Steam Remote Play (one person needs to use a controller, and good bandwidth is required). Other than that, you'll have to wait until we re-implement online multiplayer again.
