Sawed off, double barreled and regular shotgun

What's the pro's and con's of each? Some guides and posts I've read say to always use a sawn off but the range on sawn offs are so bad you might as well just use a melee weapon.

sawn off only exists for weight reduction and the zombie killer vibe. almost every single gun sucks, but the long shotguns will always be pretty much the king of guns, considering it requires 0 aiming to use effectively, holds a good amount of shots, and kills multiple z's. also, for pump/double barrel, I think it's just the ammo capacity vs the lack of delay between your available shots, but don't quote me.

Sawn off widens the cone allowing you to hit zombies that are more spread out.

Find second shotgun and try both in action it's your decision but when it's too many zombies better use sawnoff

I did test it out and I find the extra range from the non-sawn off one is better. And the narrower range is better for aiming at specific clumps of zombies. I think they both hit the same amount of zeds per shot anyway 4???

You can hit a LOT more than four with a sawn-off. Turn on 'aim outline' for ranged combat to see for yourself. Your xp will jump dramatically faster if you use a sawn-off. That having been said, if your skill is 'potato' you're one mistake (say, having a misfeed and not being able to clear immediately using the 'rack' function) from being murdered. I use it primarily for really going after a lot of zombies (well armed, skilled and supplied), just making noise for a redirect or bugout (varies)
