Game keeps forcing HDR off in my PC's settings
As the title says, every time I start the game, it disable HDR for the monitor I'm playing it on. This wouldn't be an issue if HDR came back without me having to go into the Display settings and turn it back on.

Is there a way to force HDR on while playing this?

As far as I know, that is default Windows behavior to disable HDR in non-HDR games

It's not. Or rather, it's not default behavior to turn the setting off for the computer.

It doesn't matter, though. There were several other technical issues I ran into other than this one. One of which was the mouse cursor disappearing on borderless window at 2560x1440.

I'm sure it's a great game. But running into several technical issues within the first 5-10 minutes makes me refund a game. I hope the game does well. I'll try it again somewhere down the line.

It's not about playing it with HDR. It's the fact the game was turning the Windows setting "Use HDR" off on my computer.

It’s Windows or gpu drivers itself disabling it for whatever reason.
And yet no other game I have, including the ones that have no concept of HDR, cause this issue.

When I can tab out, turn on HDR, tab back in and it gets turned back off just from tabbing back into the game, that's something to do with the game. Plenty of games on the market that are SDR that don't cause this issue.

But I don't have any interest in arguing the point further.

The forced disable HDR drived me nutz on my LG C1 OLED.

Since the game worked fine in HDR in window mode, I found out that the Borderless Gaming App works perfectly. :-)

yes, but if you use an modern LG, the Display is way darker if HDR is disabled. So the goal here is not the HDR palette. It is only a brighter setting.

Yes, if you disable HDR before starting, it looks fine, sure… but thats no option. Since it only happens in full screen or borderless mode, I start it windowed and forced it to full size with borderless-gaming tool I linked above. Then it works fine and bright in HDR and does not mess with HDR settings at all.

Yes, it seems so... it's even the case that when PZ disables HDR, Windows doesn't reactivate it after closing. The switch says it does, but you have to turn it off and on again to re-enable it. With the borderless tool, that's not much of a problem for an otherwise brilliant game like PZ. I'm so looking forward to the next patches (especially 43 with AI survivors) and love what you've accomplished. Not everyone knows how to deliver such a brilliant game experience and how important mod support is. Thanks for what you guys have done here, really!!! Love it...

Opengl doesnt support auto hdr by default so u have to do this workaround where u elevate vulkan/opengl games to a dxgi swapchain in Nvidia control panel as shown here, then it will work. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/yf6hiw/psa_you_can_now_elevate_openglvulkan_games_to_a/

I use Lossless Scaling. Fixed both problems. HDR and lower FPS if I zoom out.
