Campfire indoors
Its nearly 2 weeks now in my apoc, and i know someday the oven will stop working. So I plan to have a campfire in my safe house but does it have any chance to set the house on fire? I plan to place it at the 1st story of my 2nd story house

Best way to burn everything

You can use BBQ / antique oven / generator for electricity...
...or campfire outside (still dangerous if you dont take care...)

From what I hear it's fine if you change the tile it's on bit why ever would you bother with this while a certain item exists. I won't say what because spoilers but you don't need to put a camp fire in your house. Especially if you step on it and get caught on fire or a zombie manages to get in and set everything on fire.

In fact there's two items that you can use to fix this issue that help with other things and both are pretty critical to survival.

Guess its time to steal a BBQ in the neighbourhood. Thank you for your idea

Campfires are safe indoors, you just have to know how to build it.

dont waste your time with a bbq , the antique ovens are easy to find, and last i looked there was like 7 of them . In fact ,some of them are in a very nice out of the way summer camp like location thats full of resources.

I think the one advantage of the campfire is that they emit light. The others, from what I remember, do not. They should make the bbq and the oven also emit some light in future updates.

I have an Idea. Why don't we turn steel/metal barrel into a source of light and fire? Since its 2 tiles tall, it shouldn't cause fire indoor, just smokes like how Generators does

Can you show these locations on the map? I know of 2 only.

My antique oven gives a nice warm red glow to my place. fireplaces in houses also have a glow.

Antique oven has a red glow
Antique ovens can now be found in warehouses and the like...they seem not too rare

How do you use a generator for heat? Does it just heat up the house it's connected to, somehow? I would imagine that would only work with the premade houses, not player made ones, if that's the case.

It covers 50 tiles and electricity in that 50 tiles like TV or Microwave will be usable, There;s no wiring system in the game thankfully, that'd be hell

Generators are 'essential' tools to long term survival

As you can see in this post, there are solutions to replace ovens once electricity is down

But there is no solution to replace fridges / freezers without electricity
So, you cant store / conserve food
All your farming / fishing / foraging surplus is wasted instead of being stored for winter

There is also no way to get fuel once electricity is down...
Which means no car in the long run...

Generators, once connected, give you electricity back...that is fridges / freezers / fuel from gas stations...plus of course electric ovens / microwaves / washing machines...

Now, to connect generators, you also have to find the 'how to use generators' book which is very very rare in 41.53...or start as Electrician

Okay but...do any of those things actually produce heat for the room itself? I'm aware that the antique oven does, but I haven't found one yet, Is there the equivalent of an electric heater in the game for houses you build yourself that you can hook up to a generator? Using a regular electric oven for heat, even if it does heat up the area, seems rather unsafe, as places burn down due to the oven being on too long.
