Yes, they spawn in houses and buildings...quite often
Now, they dont REspawn in closed houses / buildings / areas...

So, if you enter a house, clean the zombies there (if any...) and close all doors / windows, no zombie will respawn there while doors / windows stay closed

Afaik that is not necessarily true.
It is true if you barricade the windows and the doors. If you just close everything they should still be able to spawn.

Unless it has been changed, the rule for REspawning a zombie is that there should be a clear path between the zombie and a corner of the map
If all windows and doors are closed...there is no clear path to the inside of the building...so, no REspawn possible

Simple spawn, aka, the first time a building is loaded, is different of course

I just found this out the hard way! I had cleaned out the storage unit areas and the manager's office. Forgot I came in through the window and found a zed in there the very next day, even though there had been none outside the area when I went to sleep. :steamfacepalm:
