Are intact windows needed for a base?
Just about every building in town has the windows smashed because I guess zombies hate seeing their reflection. Is this going to become a problem when winter comes and my base just has curtains+a few planks over the windows and the power goes out? Also do windows that aren't smashed help keep noise inside buildings when closed?

Not 100% sure but I think indoor/outdoor is the only consideration. I don't believe the state of doors and windows matter.

You can use a Crowbar to pry windows off other houses to bring home to your base. This is how you get windows for your own homebuilt base. This is awesome ^_^

Windows do not matter for indoor temp on a properly made base/existing building, but they do look real nice. Also, zombies do seem to like hitting windows so if you don't have a wall around your base, and you haven't cleared the area around it, prepare to replace them. Not sure about the noise effect though.

I love removing tiles as well as windows to make a base feel like home. As far as the ground floor goes, as soon as my carpentry is high enough, it's time to get to walling off and plastering as many entrances as possible. Also, generators are worth finding even on the rarest of settings.

Sadly the game doesn't emulate temperature at all for indoors, so it's always a steady 22C (55F or whatever that works out to). Doesn't matter how cold it is outside, or if you have windows.

Adding to Bunnymaster's comment on generators, remember to leave it outdoors. Quite a few threads exist on the forums here where people have died for 'no reason', only to realise they were poisoned by the generator being in the room with them ;p

Well that's a massive let down. Is it the same for cars?
