Right now I believe you can only cure it with time and doing stuff (Maybe fight a zombie or two) or anti-depressives. It doesn't really do much though it just makes loading and unloading your bags take longer

Learning something will give happiness ticks.
Learning something while a TV show is teaching it will give ticks.
Comic books will give a good happiness bonus.
Red Reading books will give a MASSIVE happiness bonus.

Also: learn as much cooking as you can, and prepare ever more complex recipes. Even rotten food is not a barrier if your level is high enough. Mouse over each dish you make and you can see the happiness bonuses it can give. Complex soups/stews/pastas/sammiches/burgers and stir-frys all give great bonuses. Just be mindful you're not so tubby you can't run away from the undead afterwards.

Some ordinary preserved foods and drinks can also help with happiness. Chocolate and Orange Soda should be easy for you to find. If nothing else, you can hit a bar and get trashed. MIght be really dangerous, but at least you'll die with a smile on your face.

Also, the mod "Better Cubes" just released in December allows Rubik's Cubes to grant a little happiness once you play with them a bit. Might be worth adding if you find yourself constantly dealing with a wallowing river of despair and loneliness.

Get outside, plant a garden, and then go forage and make a lovely salad.

Not in game.

Read books, the big red ones. 2 or 3 and the depression is gone.

Being depressed and having depression are two different thing.

Not like it's healthy, but Smoking also relieves some anxiety and unhappiness.

I'm no moderator, so you don't have to listen to me, but it's probably wise to avoid discussing actual depression here, semantics or otherwise.

That said... As mentioned the red books, 1 to 2 will usually do the trick. For a long-term decrease, taking anti-depressants and then going out and spending some time outside will bring it down steadily over the course of a day or two.

And to avoid getting there in the first place, regularly prepare meals with seasoning like salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup, mayo, etc... A seasoned meal provides both kinds of mood boosts(boredom and unhappiness). This will help keep your mood elevated throughout the day.

Oh yeah. And Booze. There's a lot of booze now too. Drink up!
