So far, I was mostly a Dash Bullrider kind of guy as it was on par with Pick-up and Vans (the big box ones). There were some variant with sirens (3). It handled like a heavy balanced car with a fairly powerful motor.
However, I'm having second thoughts.
As for settings, I must admit I use Sandbox settings so my usual run has low to very low zombie pop setting that slowly increase to WTF settings over a year.
Chavalier D6 is good because it's got a good sized trunk and glovebox, and you can access the trunk from the side of the vehicles. It's a good light-heavy. Rolls over too easily though.
The Bulldriver is a decent second to the D6. More storage space, but you can't access it from the sides.
The Dash Rancher is a zippy little JEEP look-alike, it's an off roader that doesn't slow down much in the dirt. Easy to roll over.
The Franklin All-Terrain is just a beefier version of the Rancher. More seats, more storage, but heavier and a little slower in the dirt(but faster than anything else).
The Ambulance is impressively fast for how bulky it is. It had a lot of seat storage space, but I think that got reduced in a recent update. Still, it's a good van. Very agile.
For style and crusing I love fixing up a Nyala into a near mint look. It's just very classy. It's a perfectly average car as far as speed, storage and mobility are concerned.
The sports cars are like sports cars in real life. Inconvenient for anything except going fast and speed kills. They are fun to fix up and zip around the race track, a big parking lot or a stretch of main road you've cleared of any wrecks.
Chevalier dart is even better in this regard.
Allthough my fav is the Franklin All Terrain simply because it is a TOW car.
I use it to tow every other car:)
In context of my current run, I've come to rely on a Ranger version of the Chevalier D6. It might not be the best vehicle for every situation, but it was the first atypical variant of a vehicle I got access to, and being in great condition was quite an added bonus. Kind of a lackluster reasoning, but it captured my attention quickly.
I do like to look for interesting details, though, and not all of them are so obvious. For instance, I found out that you can take the hood off of a Chevalier Dart or Masterson Horizon without needing the key. It might not be distinctly relevant, some neat things can be hidden by a shell of imperfection, so it pays to look around.
My opinion doesn't have a lot to do with picking a 'best' vehicle, though. I just have the thought that in the apocalyptic environment, you simply try to make due with what you can get. When I find something useful, convenient, and rare all at once, I would see that as a 'best' pick, even if it isn't really good. I'm certain I could go for something better suited for my uses, but in my opinion, even prime rib gets boring if you have it all the time.
So I guess my best vehicle is whatever flavor I like for the run. There are a number of appealing tastes, but at some point, I like to tell the game to surprise me.
SHIFT + W to set the speed to fix (tempomat). Set it to 35-40 mph with that speed you should be able to still take all the turns.
Or just do manually the press W release and dont hesistate to use the handbrake or regular brake if need be.
Actually most of the crashes for me happen because it is too dark to see the zombie. I just stare blankly after a while while driving for long time in game. And finally i am trying to light my cigarette while playing and that one second not paying attention leads to the crash.
Luckily i have three good cars. Two D6-s, a mccoy and a ranger version and a Franklin All Terrain.
The D6-s are able to tow most cars, but you cannot load them up, it seems the more a car weights, the harder it is to tow it. Whereas with the All Terrain I was able to tow everything.
Even the loaded up ranger d6. Whereas the loaded up d6 was not able to pull the loaded up all terrain.
And I just don't like hatchback.
I realy appreciate the tow comparison and I thank you. I realy need to find myself a Franklin.
For example, the other day I tried to use D6 to tow over the Cerise to set up a kill box outside the military base and I had a really hard time driving on dirt road. But when I switched up to use Cerise to tow the D6 instead, it was smooth like it didn't have a tow. My D6 had overall 90%+ with performance parts and Cerise was just random 50% condition I found in Rosewood.
D6 has just 400 hp when Cerise has 420 hp. The All Terrain has 470 hp, so of course it can tow anything.
On the thread topic itself: ambulance is still the best even with the nerf to have 2 seats; 490 hp, high capacity trunk storage and most importantly the lightbar. On Very High zombie population (x3), any help with thinning out the number fast is valuable.
To answer your question, I quite like the Dash Bulldriver myself, specifically one with a lightbar and siren on, like the park ranger variant. Granted, in B41 it's a lot noisier, and they also now have the reverse beep, but I just love riding around with sirens. Yes, it's stupid, and yes I usually die. But, it's fun!
If you decide to eventually try some vehicle mods out, I can recommend a couple that I use!
