Zombies opening doors?
Just started playing build 41 after not touching the game for a while, and I noticed the doors and windows of houses I previously looted are open when I come back to them. I'm pretty careful about closing things up behind me, and there are never zombies around or inside the houses. I'm sure at this point it's not me leaving things open, I tested it by shutting all the doors on a strip of houses and coming back the next few days in a row, only to find some of them opened again. Kind of worries me as I don't want my doors being opened while I'm sleeping. Also, I'm sure I don't have the zombie cognition set to allow them to open doors. So what's happening here? Is this a bug or some new feature I missed?

Check your difficulty levels. If sandbox, it's easy to see if the cognition pulldown is set to allow this. If it's a vanilla difficulty set I'm not positive which one allows for it.

If you want to prevent your base from being attacked in this manner, lock your doors and board your windows. Anything that comes by will still have to physically break into your building then.

There is probably a file you can check to ascertain the settings of your game, to make sure you didn't set it this way. It might be a safe bet to overwrite it with the settings you want anyway.

None of the preset difficulties have this setting set like this, so I don't think that's it.

I might suggest creating a new game to see if this problem persists.

If you have mods, check them, too.

Lock them then ;p Kite a zombie indoors and kill it for a chance at getting the house key, if you don't have one.

Above is the legit and proven way. If you're in a bind because some stinky corpses want to cuddle and you are out of time, use NecroForge's KeyBrush tool to create a keyset for the building you're in.
