Question about Antique Stove...
... can you "turn" it off once lit? Or does it just keep burning for the duration of firewood/fuel you put in?

Asking because I'd rather not have my whole building burn down just to cook some food

I think you can do that. After you extinguish the fire, it will smolder for a little bit (loosing a little burn time left) then go out completely. I think I remember that a few playthroughs ago with my stove.

An antique stove will not burn your building down no matter how long it is lit.

Well, unless you leave something burning it in I suppose.

That sounds.... really bad - Guess I'm sticking to a regular oven untill I setup a seperate outer room to test if things around it catch fire.

They won't treat it like an oven and don't stuff towels into it unless you want to burn your house down.

They mean it can catch fire if you're putting stuff in it you're not suppoesd to, or leave the food burning in it for too long (I guess). The regular oven can catch fire too if you do that.
Otherwise the antique oven is just as reliable as the regular one, you can leave the fire burning all day.

Can leave fire burning all day, can put out the fire like a campfire. Warms the place during cold winter nights.

TBH i even store my firewood / kindle / newspaper inside the oven and so far it never caught fire ;)

I guess the only way to burn the house is, like electrical ovens, when you forget something cooking for too long.

If you have never seen an "Antique Stove", they are solid iron, they are not going to burn down by being left with firewood in them. They have a fire compartment, and a cooking compartment or hot top. A modern stove is a bit of thin metal with a lot of electric current (twice your normal wall socket) running through it.

In either case, an explosion or fire can result from leaving food in/on it and it burns to the point of starting fires.

Oven/stove top fires are probably one of the biggest reason houses catch on fire in today's society. Unattended food cooking, burning, and catching fire. My sister almost burnt down my parents house, and my brothers house, with unattended food cooking on the stove.

And if I believe my neighbors, the house I am living in now had a big kitchen fire.

Yeah. Just so the question gets answered. You can start and stop a fire in an antique stove.

You right click on it and the option to "Put out fire" is there. You can tamp out the fire. It will smolder for a little while(10 minutes? I think, I don't remember exactly.) And then it will be out completely.

Then you can relight it and keep using the fuel from previous uses.

You can right click and check to see how much burning time is left as well. Add fuel as needed. (Sticks and scrap wood make great fuel, don't waste planks and logs.)

And that is what the essay is about, the in-game stove and how it works.

I just lit it and put it out and all the fuel was gone, oh well - It was only scrap wood :Y
